Compensation & Loyalty will always keep a genuine person in your corner. But just from being in the industry for so long, friendships can cloud business and make people look at you less valuable. Creatives have to always be steadfast in knowing their worth and standing on it.. and not being pushovers and being passive on certain things b/c of care/or scared of “being difficult”. Business is business & people who value you will always make sure they look out for you. I’ve had ZERO issues in Korea!

This is the thing. People treat you as if you need to be grateful.. when you’re doing a lot of work.. instead of realizing that music is a team effort. Yes,’m a one stop shop - but many songs I’ve wrote solely myself… I’ve been generous to others with publishing and being a team player. I never complain about splits… but not being credited/or receiving publishing for work done is egregious. Ego gets in the way and you start being greedy & treating the people around u as if they’re disposable. Kindness goes far with me - I’m the friend that don’t care if you got a deal - I’m bringing my equipment and we working and figuring it out.. but you can’t be the only one who gives from the heart. Work needs to be paid/negotiated FAIRLY & not with malice/or retaliation.

When D&D studios closed down we lost that classic NYC hip hop sound. Nobody has been able to replicate it since.

@TiyonTC you're a one stop shop. unfortunately, many would try n take advantage of that. like, if ya did 4 diff jobs that all cost $25/each... they dont wanna give u $100. they'd quietly ask if you'd take $70. then present it ta u as if u should be grateful they're giving u all that work

This is why I started fighting for my worth and my hard work.. People had me writing. Arranging, singing background vocals,Producing, engineering, vocal producing, mixing A huge part of the budget.. then try to throw me penny’s while they pocket most the nugget! Then have the nerve to not credit or give publishing for my contribution. Shit hit different when you realize they’re willing to pay /credit everyone else individually except you who did 6 different jobs.
