@jimmytron421 don't you think most 6-12 yo kids will know most of the above? my assumption is that they will learn these skills regardless of my workshop, because modern life will push them towards being users, anyway.

If you were giving a technology workshop to 6-12 year olds, what would you cover that is practical, useful? I'm thinking USB, WIFI vs cell vs wired, battery/ac, system architecture, software basics, the concept of standards, mobile platforms, open source, and ethics/safety.

@newz2000 it's a good point. but I would prefer to guide them into knowing how to build things as opposed to use things. I know it's a spectrum (install+lan+game) but they are already going to become users naturally, whereas building not necessarily.

@kiko666 What do 6-12yo want to do on the internet? Play games, be entertained… I’d start with that. Install a lan game and make it work maybe. Teach the computer to do their math homework.

@gwidion another project idea is a basic weather and temperature display using an arduino

When I encounter in text something slightly off — think a typo, slightly off translation, bad capitalization — my reaction is "why did the person not???". But I've come to realize that it's actually how people that basically just get stuff done are able to get said stuff done.
