@LandsharkRides There’s a point when you start to ascend and can pick the right answer based on the choices alone. Questions on antibiotics are a good example

One thing that poisons the walkability discourse is that walkability enthusiasts live in places where driving is completely miserable, both because of traffic, and because of insane drivers who aren’t ever punished. So they’re comparing walking to the worst environments for driving in the entire country.

@daniel_271828 Just building enough factories to keep up with robot production/maintenance is probably a multi generational project.

@daniel_271828 Not to mention the demand for “AGI” robot labor would be so great (if they existed which they don’t yet) it doesn’t feasible that we would even have close enough production that a haircut robot would exist before the trillions of mining/construction/etc robots are built.

Trump really is so interesting. Notice he refuses to hit the floor or duck under the table. He bends down and quickly leaves but it’s like he just refuses to look weak or scared. He’s a mixed character, but this kind of thing I respect.

@lymanstoneky Your low iq childhood friend will definitely choose blue because he's not as smert as you. Does that influence your decision one iota?

If you press blue, you participate in the alien scheme to murder millions of humans. If you press red, you refuse to be part of their homicidal rampage. The moral injury of pressing blue is enormous. You are complicit in the scheme!
Dr Kareem Carr@kareem_carr

If you press blue, the worst case is you die. If you press red, the worst case is you took part in an action that killed just under half of humanity. Clicking blue minimizes the worst-case moral injury. It says you’d rather die than risk contributing to the death of another.

@dieworkwear I’ve heard you mention MtM for shirts only and not for suiting. What about MtM for pants from proper cloth (which you recommend often)

Sartoria Pastena If you're new to custom tailoring, these simple rules will improve your experience. First, it's helpful to distinguish between made-to-measure and bespoke. Secondly, if you're getting a bespoke garment, choose a firm that will have your cutter present at your fittings. Thirdly, buying custom clothes online is almost always a bad idea unless you're just getting a button-up shirt. Suits and sport coats are complicated garments that require in-person fittings. There's a reason why real tailors travel around the world to meet with clients. Sartoria Pastena is the only exception I've seen to these rules. Back when I participated in a menswear forum, some guys sent their clothes to this Neapolitan tailor to have him create a version based on their garment's measurements. The results were surprisingly good. Almost perfectly fitting garments handmade in Naples by a tailor who had never seen his clients in person. Eventually, one of the US clients organized a trunk show, which brought Sartoria Pastena stateside; they now visit ten cities. Being Neapolitan means Pastena adheres to a certain house style consistent with the region. These softly constructed jackets have minimal shoulder padding, making them lightweight and comfortable for warmer climes. The trousers are a little slimmer, although still classic, and the lapels are built a bit wider with a higher gorge (the seam connecting the collar to the lapel, which determines the placement of the lapel notch). The front dart also runs from the chest point to the hem, making this distinctively Neapolitan. The result is a softer, more natural silhouette that reads as slightly more casual than its British counterpart. Importantly, I've seen Pastena create beautiful clothes for men across a wide range of body types — short, tall, heavy, thin. To me, this demonstrates that they design clothes for the wearer, rather than forcing the wearer into a certain style or proportion. Consider them if you like classic Neapolitan style (soft, deconstructed silhouettes in classic proportions) and think you may move out of a big city one day. Once they have your pattern, they may still be able to produce clothes for you. Plus, their prices are much more competitive than what's typical on Savile Row.

TRUNK SHOW ANNOUNCEMENTS If you're interested in bespoke tailoring or shoemaking and based in the United States, I have some trunk show announcements to share with you. Since Twitter recently changed their formatting for posts, I will be doing these as threads. 🧵

@cremieuxrecueil In fact given glp-1 already exists, the muscle protecting effect would be the more interesting/important effect.

@cremieuxrecueil Hard to believe no muscle loss since it’s weight loss related not drug. Would imply that it’s some kind of special muscle preserving/growing drug in combination.

Very rough policy idea: Taxing urban businesses in proportion to hours they’re closed. (Alternatively, tax breaks for those with longer opening hours.) Businesses opened and staffed long hours—especially 24/7—are a useful and valuable urban amenity. They should be incentivized.

No. It’s not super probable, but in large family registries single sex families happen more than you would expect by chance. And recent genetic work shows there are actually genes that have created single-sex-bearing family trees in recent times! My wife’s family going back a few generations is like 90% daughter-bearing!

Isn’t this gender ratio pretty much mathematically impossible?

Biden never got serious opposition over abortion, trans genderism, or gay marriage, but as soon as Trump started enforcing immigration law, there was a conflict with the Vatican. I see no holes in Kevin’s argument.
