@TerryDodsonArt @HamillHimself @strathmoreart @winsorandnewton @Marvel @starwars @HeatherAntos @cracksh0t I'm still old school pencil and ink on paper. There's something drawing on paper that feels better than digitally (I work on the computer all day at work).

@BigBadMailey @rasmiez @guyfelicella Switzterland has given CHF 6.08 billion (C$10.5 billion) to Ukraine in financial aid.

OMG people…
Universal healthcare is for CANADIANS.
Not tourists, not visitors, and not Americans passing through.
Sorry your country won’t take care of you, but that’s not on us.

Arky started stressing after having to pay $1,000 in Toronto, Canada for a Doctor to check his broken hand despite having health insurance in America 😭 "they said its $1,000 to just look at it, if you need medicine we are going to charge you extra on top of that"
English

@guyfelicella He doesn't know what travel insurance is for?
Besides, isn't $1000 still cheaper than what he would pay in the US?

@Nerdcognito I've never met a person who actually rolled a 1E bard...

@DoctorLemma There's a musical about it too!

Just found out that on 9/11, when the United States shut its airspace, 38 planes got diverted to a tiny town in Atlantic Canada called Gander, Newfoundland.
The town’s population at the time was around 10,000 people. Overnight, 6,700 strangers arrived. The population nearly doubled in a few hours.
Apparently the town just opened up. Schools, churches, and community halls were turned into sleeping areas. Bus drivers who had been on strike came off the picket lines to shuttle passengers. Pharmacies filled prescriptions for free. The ice rink at the community centre became a giant fridge because there was so much donated food. People invited strangers into their homes for showers, meals, and a bed.
The passengers were only there for four days. Twenty-five years later, many of them are still in touch with their Newfoundland hosts. One flight raised money for a scholarship fund for kids in Gander. It started at 15,000 US dollars and has since paid out over a million dollars to local students.
A musical was made about it called Come From Away. It ran on Broadway for five years.
When a reporter asked one of the Newfoundland women why they did it, she said, “You don’t turn your back on people in need.”

@YoDanno To the Phlogiston and Crystal Spheres which WotC removed from the 5E Spelljammer (I ignored WotC's exclusions at my table).

@Executionotron @BrianNiemeier A lot of artists took photos of models as reference for their work.
Larry Elmore had TSR legend Keith Parkinson pose, along with Larry’s wife Betty and daughter Jennifer as models for his "Two For the Road", the cover for the City System boxed set.

English

@BrianNiemeier A lot of the latter AD&D core books' interior art looked like someone was tracing photos of their buddies at the renfair, but that cover art was iconic.

@Blackmoor_Film Yup, this is why I stopped buying 5E books and instead spend a couple thousand dollars buying older edition books (BECMI, 1E, 2E, and 3E) from eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Not a single cent went to WotC! I still use 5E for my players but I just convert older stuff to 5E.
English

I was pondering this last night and wondering if I even care.
For me, it is a waste of time to be outraged.
I do not have a horse in this race.
Ask yourself: Do I even buy anything WOTC makes?
Just keep gaming with your friends and having fun.
Remember:
"I consider those people (the older gamers who still comprise half the D&D market) not worth listening to." - Jason Tondro
We did listen. We were told to shove off. We cheerily moved on.

Good news, Greyhawk fans! In a new D&D Beyond update, The Inn of the Welcome Wench from The Village of Hommlet has just been renamed "The Inn of the Paladin Prince." Your favorite campaign setting, now X-card approved. Game on! 🤡 Credit to @dorsonkieffer for the find.

@KevinLamb74 @dorsonkieffer And they expect us older gamers to come back and buy their stuff out of nostalgia?

@KevinLamb74 @dorsonkieffer I'm surprised they used "prince" since it's a gendered title of nobility...

@skepticalone44 @fandompulse Yup! After OGL scandal and WotC telling us older gamers they don't want us I spent a couple thousand dollars buying older edition books from eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Not a single cent went to WotC!
English

@fandompulse Older players have more disposable income.
And they have about 10 years to get our money before we die or are gaming in the old folks home.
It likely won’t work. Table top RPGs will largely die with Gen X
English

Designer Jason Tondro wrote in print last year that longtime D&D fans were "not worth listening to."
Now WotC has renamed its Greyhawk supplement to The Shield Lands, and actor Vince Vaughn personally gifted the cover art to Luke Gygax at GaryCon.
One year of fan pressure produced a visible course correction.
Is this a real change in direction or just damage control?

@dosukoibombers It wasn't Japanese exclusive as there were stuff influenced by Chinese culture and folklore as well. The 3E Oriental Adventures was very Japanese centric since it used the Legends of the Five Rings IP. The Forgotten Realms version is the Kara-Tur campaign setting.

How do you defend this?

@Nerdcognito They're finally catching on that the older gamers have much more disposable income to buy D&D stuff than younger generations. After WotC insulted me I stopped buying 5E books and spent a few thousand dollars buying BECMI, 1E, 2E, 3E books from eBay (not one cent went to WotC!)

@esanzi In Asian homes you take your shoes off because they're DIRTY! People would wear slippers after taking off their shoes (we offer guests slippers).
