That’s not a Carly specific problem. That’s a #GH problem. This is how they view Sonny - as a “flawed good man.” That narrative began with Brenda and Robin in 1994 and has not changed. The exception was when Mulcahey returned and you saw how quickly that got shut down.

#GH the writing for Carly remains VERY problematic! We watched in real time Sonny's horrific treatment of Carly for more than 20 yrs but she hoped Joss would see him as a flawed but good man? That is offensive! When is this going to be about Joss, Carly and the WSB? Or never?

@andrea9192 I don’t see Carly as defending Sonny right now. I get what she said to Valentin and Jack but I do not believe she defended him to Joss. And privately she’s blamed herself for bringing Sonny into Joss’ life.

@kimbafuzz I absolutely understand how the entire canvas tries to gaslight us into believing Sonny is wonderful when he's absolute scum. My point is, Joss' shouldn't be written as having a challenge with Sonny right now but because she is, her mother should not be defending him.

No. The Franco stuff doesn’t track. Carly was sacrificed as a character on the alter of the show trying to pair her with RH after they lost the rights to Todd Manning (another bad pairing, but differently). And you know it’s BS cause they write Carly/Ric correctly.

I don't disagree with you, which is why I framed it as a writing problem. Carly should not be singing his praises. But when you look at Carly trying to a young Joss to be nice to Franco, it's kind of tracks, no?
