Super cool for this to get reach! For new followers, I quit my job in 2019 to help my parents with their two hotels. One was already independent, one was a Super 8. Now both are Hotel Pommier and this location is my first acquisition. I post about hotel ownership, operations, and obligatory shitposting about chain hotels.

I'm building the best indie hotel brand in Iowa. Launched our 2nd location (deflagged Super 8) and it's crushing. Small town Iowa needs nice hotels. Closing on location #3 this Tuesday! Fixing all the mistakes I made in the past. Reno #1: Didn't share anything, despite entire town wondering what we were doing Reno #2: Multiple viral reels, entire town knew my face Reno #3: 80k followers cheering us on to win! Whether you have a chain or indie hotel, if you don't hype your property no one will.

I just bought an old Super 8 in Iowa for $925k. Here's the crazy shit I've uncovered so far: 1) After closing I asked sellers to transfer the domain/website...realized they didn't own it 🤡 Hotel was deflagged in 2017. Purchase agreement said everything would be transferred, but clearly I made a a stupid assumption. So now I'm a proud non-owner of 2 orphaned domains 2) Mitel PBX, IP gateway, switch etc. all powered on choking on dust despite not being connected to anything. Main line directly going to cordless phone lol, $507/mo bill 3) Sellers weren't admins of their Expedia acct so couldn't transfer it. Once we figured it out, saw that multiple Wyndham users still had access 😱 4) Not a single email in the PMS system Just masked OTA emails. Was planning to email all past guests about ownership change, guess not. 5) No exterior key readers worked. I knew side doors would need adjusting, but didn't think to test key readers (another bad assumption) 6) They were paying for 4 yard trash container, 2x pickups/wk. That's more than our 1st location which has twice the rooms and occupancy. Made a few other mistakes but overall the acquisition went as expected (will share if folks are interested) I'm building the best indie hotel brand in Iowa. Just to get things straight $ASTER was below $0.5 You thought it was too high so you didn’t buy You texted in your group chats asking for the next runner You then saw $ASTER at $2 + and decided to buy in then because fomo kicked in hard and there are still Xs to be made. True, there are still plenty of Xs there. But why buy at $2+ when you could’ve bought below $0.5 but you rejected the option when the moment was there? Now what are you doing? You’re looking for cope plays in search for the next $ASTER Also valid because there are plenty of defi plays out there backed by big names that actually want to build. But then what if the meta shifts and you’ve just too blasted into a cope play? What’s my advice after all of this? My advice remains the same. Ok, I haven’t hit the big runners for a while, true. But has my consistency on runners and metas and big plays remained the same on a consistent basis? I think so, right?? I don’t too blast into cope plays I topblast into main runners just like $ASTER sub $0.5. Sometimes it’s obvious, just don’t miss it. The metas will always shift, if you miss this one, catch the next. Just grow some balls in the process because the harsh reality is this: Sometimes in life you just have to put your fucking balls on the line. Call me whatever you want, I’ll be there to catch the next runner whenever my time is due, and you’ll be the one to miss it because you thought I was washed. Just like everyone else who was washed, until you see them catch a big runner, and ape their next play, and what do they do? They use you as exit liquidity…. Separate the real from the fake. I’ve never done that to anyone. Maybe there’s a reason for that. Because I actually make money.

Spent the whole day on crypto events today and honestly barely anyone’s really into prediction markets yet (maybe only in my country) Everybody knows about @Polymarket, but all day I only ran into a couple people actually trading there and even then, it was mostly just the US election markets Masses are still way more into memes + old school trading, while PMs are still flying under the radar So yeah, retail isn’t really here yet. Once they do, we’re gonna see a proper boom In the future: Polymarket FDV > Hyperliquid FDV
