OG may be onto something. I remember reading a paper where they explained at the height of colonialism spices no longer became a wealthy commodity. Once poor ppl were able to access spices to “distinguish” themselves from poor ppl rich folk invented the idea that less is more

Something being made by white people doesn’t automatically make it bad/evil

@pearl_4er @That2598 @teogobrr theyre so inlove with beating children, just madness. they wouldnt ever do this to another adult but they find it okay to do so to a child. the logic is nowhere to be found.
English

So many people in the replies talking about how they used to fantasize about dying by the hands of their parents when they were children, just so their parents would feel just a little bit of guilt
Yet people still think beating children is just discipline and not abuse.

“and she saw me bleeding” a piece from my “does my mother love me?” collection.
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu right because only kids shows are popular in japan. your thinly veiled xenophobia is showing.
English

@kimdokjascom @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu in a lot of them, yeah
the most popular shows in the west / UK are shows like breaking bad or GOT, whereas in japan it's mostly kids shows like dragon ball or naruto. they're complete different levels of writing and different levels of 'poeticism' or wording in their dialogue
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu its funny that you think this isnt due to watching anime being seen as something negative. its the one thing people will always point out no matter what, “anime pfp!!” but you decided to drag that out and start talking about japanese media writing quality. kay.
English

@kimdokjascom @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu it's lowkey not that hard to understand
"she has a way with words" aka you believe she strings the correct words together well
anime has sloppy subtitling and writing, so liking such means you probably don't know how to judge when someone 'has a way with words'
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu ive watched hundreds of films and series growing up and even now but since i watch also anime it nullifies all of that and apparently i have “poor judgement” due to that…all because i was making a silly joke about how she rhymes. its getting tired. i wont be continuing this
English

@FoxyKit__ @lisrxn well yes, thats my point, the divide between “english” and “russian”. a huge majority of us arent english natives but everyone else is accommodating/adapting for eachother but thats not the case for russians and i still dont quite understand why. or maybe russians dunno english
English

@kimdokjascom @lisrxn Because most of us know to be polite and use english when playing with international people, cuz it is faster than 4 people needing to use translators to read what the others say if we ex. are someone from germany, turkey, denmark and italy 🤷🏽♀️
Most of us are not native eng 😅😅
English

@kimdokjascom @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu you were clearly trying to say that she's poetic in the sense of words strung together in a satisfying way
99% of anime is brainless action. the most popular animes are brainless action, that's why the most popular ones are often also kids shows (dragon ball, naruto, etc)
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu because western media has great poeticism in all of their dialogues right?
English

@kimdokjascom @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu you think she strings words together in a satisfying way (and you possibly think highly of the words used themselves?)
if you enjoy anime with subtitles, then you likely don't care for 'poeticism' or words being strung together well in media, so you wouldn't be able to judge it
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu writing quality in japanese cartoon = humour on tiktok video

English

@kimdokjascom @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu dragon ball, naruto, one piece, demon slayer, MHA, jujutsu kaisen, i got reincarnated as a [insert word], tokyo revengers, chainsaw man, solo leveling
these all greatly sacrifice writing for brainless action, because anime's audience generally doesn't care for writing
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu actually what the hell does innaccurate subtitles have to do with me thinking she “has her way with words”. Slakoth do you hear yourself???
English

@kimdokjascom @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu "she has a way with words" "poetic"
this is about the structure and usage of words, and ability to tell a story
anime is low level writing for 2 main reasons:
- subtitles are often inaccurate or sloppily translated
- japanese writers often value brainless action over writing
English

@TheGentleman552 @yballsackboobs @sasukesugu ?… i was goofing around when i called her poetic shes talking about jiggly butts can you be serious? she just rhymes sometimes which i find silly.
and youre last point is crazy i mean do you think anime is only action series which have nothing else to offer than action?
English
