Extraordinary. The government has decided not to take any further part in the debate. If the Labour motion is now carried the government will have lost control of its foreign policy. By tradition that is a matter of confidence. And should lead to an immediate general election.

One reason “get to work” policies are so cruel for disabled people is that losing their career was devastating. Sitting on the sofa is nice for a weekend but less so if you’re doing it for thirty years and in pain. Being told you “don’t want it enough” is psychologically brutal.

People aren’t just born with a disability , people can acquire a disability at any point in their life. It can be temporary or permanent No one is born a carer but you can easily become one Then what financially? Think before you cheer on benefit cuts, think carefully indeed

UN experts have warned that we are witnessing a genocide in the making. Home by home, hospital by hospital, generation by generation, Palestinians are being wiped out before our very eyes. MPs had the chance to demand a ceasefire. The majority chose to cheer on war instead.

An entire culture, history and people are disappearing under the rubble – buried by the moral cowardice of our political leaders. Artists whose work we will never know. Teachers whose lessons we will never learn. Children whose laughter we will never hear. We must keep raising our voice for an immediate ceasefire. For the universal application of international law. For our shared humanity. For the only path to a just & lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.

The huge tragedy of the UK is that for 31 of past 44 years The Tories and their asset stripping short termism has downgraded our country. Decent housing was turned into an unaffordable asset - we have gone from the second most equal society in Europe ( after Germany) in 1975 to the most unequal society in Europe with crumbling infrastructure , collapsing services, bankrupt councils and an NHS about to implode. All the tories do is spread hate so their backers , fossil fuel companies and others can rip us all off in perpetuity . Once they ate voted out they must never be allowed to resurrect again. They are a worse plague than Covid 19 in this country, they offer nothing but pain, death ignorance and insecurity

After caring for this patient, washing her hair, and styling it into a ponytail braid, I played her favorite music collection. We did the same routine for my 3 shifts with her. On my last shift, I said my goodbye. It was hard because somehow I had gotten used to her non-verbal cues (while intubated), which she used to express her needs. She held my hand with tears in her eyes and mumbled the two words- "Thank you." As she squeezed my hand, I told her she didn't have to struggle to mouth more words. I could feel her deep gratitude. These are the moments that remind me of why I still practice bedside nursing. For me, being able to care for people in their most vulnerable state is a blessing. I love nursing.
