Received an email this morning from an outraged parent of a third grader in lower Manhattan. She informed my office that her child's NYC public school was distributing these instruction cards on "what to do and say if you are ever approached by ICE".
Needless to say, it is not the role of the NY public schools to interfere with immigration operations, nor is this kind of political instruction appropriate in any way. Teachers may NOT bring their activism into the classroom.
It's unclear whether this is a matter of official policy or an isolated incident, but my office will be looking into it.

Blue city governance is important, but homelessness aside it's not like red states do better on crime, drug deaths, public health, etc. But by dint of red states' sprawl, social crises aren't as visible in downtowns - for instance ODs happen in cars and homes, not on sidewalks.

Theriault's odds of overcoming Golden's lead are absurdly small. Per @fairvote, just 9% of #ME02 ballots that didn't mark a 1st choice in 2018 marked a 2nd choice. In 2022, it was just 6%.
