Why Clearing and Settling on Chia? Blockchain-based clearing and settlement offers key advantages over legacy systems like DTCC or SWIFT: Speed: Near-instant settlement compared to traditional T+2 cycles. Transparency: Immutable and auditable transaction records. Cost Efficiency: Fewer intermediaries, reducing fees. Security: Decentralized infrastructure minimizes single points of failure. The Challenge: Transaction Volume Legacy systems like SWIFT and DTCC handle millions of transactions daily, far exceeding Chia’s current L1 TPS (~20). To address this, Chia has two potential paths imo: 1️⃣ Focus on High-Value Transactions: Prioritize large-scale financial settlements where security and trust outweigh speed (at costs of ~$10 per tx). Example: Settling tokenized real estate or large bond trades. 2️⃣ Leverage the DataLayer for Scalability: Store transaction data off-chain while committing cryptographic proofs of merkle trees to L1. Enable scalable issuance and trading of RWAs without overwhelming the blockchain. A Product Alone Isn’t Enough Even the most innovative product means nothing without adoption. For Chia’s product to succeed, institutions must: 1️⃣ Understand its advantages over legacy systems. 2️⃣ Be willing to pay for the value it provides. 3️⃣ Trust others to adopt and manage money on this new infrastructure. That’s why I’m betting this announcement won’t just unveil a product, but also a partnership with a top 50 Wall Street institution. Such a collaboration would signal immediate real-world use of Chia’s infrastructure and drive institutional trust and adoption. What This Means for Finance Imagine a tokenization platform that allows institutions to: - Issue RWAs (e.g., tokenized carbon credits, real estate). - Trade and clear assets efficiently on a blockchain that integrates seamlessly with existing systems ( like SWIFT). - Use Chia's regulatory-ready infrastructure to ensure compliance. This is more than a product—it’s the foundation for the next generation of financial systems. Conclusion: Big Moves Ahead Chia isn’t just creating a product. It’s building the infrastructure that could replace some of the biggest legacy systems in finance. This option contract NFT was sold to @cameroncooper via #Chia offer file for 1 XCH (the premium). Any time between now and the expiration date, he can choose to buy 10 XCH at $90/XCH. Otherwise the contract expires and I will take back that 10 XCH. He can also choose to sell this NFT to somebody else to pass on the option. In fact, there's already a $15 offer on this NFT!
