This is how Nigerians have kept the idea of “juju” alive for so long:
-It fills the gaps of the unknown; rather than investigate or research, people plug in superstition…There was a time people here even called airplanes juju, so that should tell you something…
-Accountability is avoided, a typical nigerian would rather blame objects or unseen forces than their own actions…(we saw that with the NPF just recently)…
-Religious leaders often create an antagonist to position themselves as the solution, it makes for compelling stories… it's why some of you even think there's devil somewhere to blame for everything that goes wrong in your life...
-Even herbs get labeled as juju. (This is just plain dumbness)…
-Nollywood and religious dramas reinforce these ideas (that’s a whole topic on its own)…
-Hearsay mixed with exaggeration keeps the stories alive...
-Tricks and illusions; Many people struggle to accept how easily they can be deceived… my mind thinks of “what did I miss”, “how did I get tricked” rather than oh, it's juju…
It seems when I start getting familiar with someone, I try to sabotage it because I feel being vulnerable always bring disrespect.
I’m not even the bossy person but I respect how ppl see me and don’t want to by anychance look too nice… wtf I don’t know how to explain this! 😑
