Important update (2022): Al Bayati’s convictions for the indecent assault charges were quashed on appeal by the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal. He was acquitted after serving more than two years, with the court finding the evidence did not support the indecent assault conviction (though he had been found guilty at trial).

Iraqi-born Mohammad Hassan Al Bayati, then 30 and working as a security guard at DFO Homebush shopping centre in western Sydney, was convicted in 2019 of taking a three-year-old girl from a playground in December 2016, leading her to a secluded fire stairwell, exposing himself, and indecently assaulting her by touching her underwear. CCTV captured him taking the girl by the hand while her mother was shopping nearby. He was originally sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison with a non-parole period of two-and-a-half years.

🇦🇺 In Australia in 2016, Iraqi immigrant Mohammed Hassan Al Bayati took a three-year-old girl to a secluded stairwell and sexually abused her.
Al Bayati was working as a security guard at the DFO Homebush shopping center in Sydney.
CCTV captured him leading the toddler away from a playground while her mother was shopping.
He took her into an isolated stairwell where the assault occurred.
He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison with a non-parole period of two and a half years.
The story has gone viral again on X, with many people questioning why Mohammed received such a short sentence.
English

@visegrad24 Because the government and rule of law care more about punishing people stealing money than taking away the lives of the innocent.

@superfooty @Josh__Barnes Josh is confirming he is not a journalist and instead gets paid to write garbage clickbait.

ICYMI: Former @AFL Umpire, Dean Margetts on the Butters and Foot situation.
"A simple turn to Zak and say hey mate, did you want to repeat that or are we okay and it could've just stopped it... to go back and say you are on report with a bit of anger, didn't look right for me."

English

@tommorris32 @1116sen @7AFL The AFL want hearings run to match the rule of law and then sook when they don't deliver the narrative they want 🤣

@FootyonNine @CalTwomey A quick way to become irrelevant if they do deals like this, a fairy-tale offer.

@boostar83 @Ramma_____ Who do you think pays them 🤦♂️🤷♂️
English

@Ramma_____ Beyond frustrating. And the folks at these commissions seemingly even more out of touch with reality doesn’t help things

Re: Bookie Verifications. How did we get to this point where books are retrospectively voiding winnings for using multiple devices, requesting street sign video selfies, unredacted bank statements, and stat decs detailing your personal and business relationships aside from betting. It’s a one way street, while problem gamblers and losing accounts are none the wiser as they dust off their cash unwittingly. Incredibly disheartening to see what has become of an industry now where winning and getting paid is the despised outsider of the field

@DamianG18538058 @OnSpeculator Clearly shows that developers are overvaluing, and the gravy train of easy money is about to stop.
English

@OnSpeculator Recently completed townhomes near us in Brisbane, think 3 sold off the plan but the other 6 in the development have been sitting on the market for months… things definitely slowing…
English

@roger84277023 @GolfweekNichols The alternative viewpoint is that it rewards players who made the effort to participate in the tournament.
English

@GolfweekNichols Well intentions, but if he had done this before the tournament they may have gotten bigger names to participate… kinda odd to do it in the middle of the tourney.
English

@hasumpstuffedup @FOXFOOTY Didn't care who won but that was a blatant trip.
English

@FOXFOOTY Both correct decisions
Pickett's tackle starts at the waist and slides down in one motion. Ends at the knees, not below them
Second one clearly cynically tackled him after a mark. 50m penalty.

Two VERY tough calls went against Brisbane in the second half...
First it was HTB over tripping, then minutes later came a touchy 50 that handed Melbourne a goal.

@DavidZita1 @FOXFOOTY As was obvious but people have been unable to understand, the evidence of Butters and Wines was inconsistent. The only reliable and consistent evidence before the Tribunal was of Foot.
English

@dannynoeljackso @princerubiton Linderman leading POJ 🤦♂️
Svenska

@princerubiton If you read what Nash says in the Stewards report he knew they were going out way to fast, thats why Linderman settled last, every speed map had Linderman leading the race # EOS
English

@DavidZita1 @FOXFOOTY The AFL needs to address how players are communicated with, always with an open palm, as if they were children, and without discussion. A simple I'm sorry now is not an appropriate time would have been sufficient.
English

@FOXFOOTY Foot on why he didn't speak with Butters after the game: "We're instructed not to enter discussions regarding reportable offences with players after the game."
English

@DavidZita1 @FOXFOOTY Deadline! What is this amateur hour?
English

@FOXFOOTY Reasons will be provided tomorrow as the Tribunal will not have them in time for the 5:45pm AEST deadline.
English

@UnoHaydo @DavidZita1 @FOXFOOTY Not saying it's right, but the checks and balances in place for him to do that would be extreme.
And maybe the 80% should learn more about the people instead of just complaining.
English

Zak Butters has been referred directly to the AFL Tribunal after being charged with Abusive and Insulting Language Towards an Umpire.
It is alleged Butters said to Umpire Nick Foot, “How much are they paying you?” @FOXFOOTY
English

@7AFL He is meant to tell the player what they have been reported for. Not say I'm reporting you and run off.
