My heart goes out to the Muslim community of San Diego in the wake of the senseless act of hate that claimed the lives of three people at the Islamic Center of San Diego today.
Everyone should be safe in their place of worship, and we must address exactly why hate incidents against Muslims in the U.S. are at an all-time high. Anti-Muslim bigotry and discrimination are normalized by endless war and the rhetoric of Islamophobic politicians across the country, including sitting members of Congress. The lives lost at the mosque in San Diego are a direct consequence of this ongoing dehumanization.
