@PittsburghPG How about ban all the fucking dumb masks. However masks are a clear indicator of who the weirdos are

Allegheny County Council proposes bill banning law enforcement — including ICE — from wearing masks post-gazette.com/news/politics-…

@MartySmithESPN That’s funny - he hated playing tour events and always just focused on majors when he came on tour - but now it’s a LIV PGA thing and the media has this LDS syndrome and it’s veiled shots at LIV - funny stuff

Brooks Koepka's move back to the PGA Tour helped him fall back in love with golf. I asked him today, after a 3-under 69, if that also means he has any newfound gratitude for The Masters.
"I'm just enjoying the game a whole lot more. I think there's a huge difference if I'm excited to come out and play every week. It is just overall, if your happiness is through the roof off the golf course and on the golf course, it's really tough to beat it. You're to enjoy every day, everything you're doing."
Does he have new balance?
"I don't know if it's new balance. My son has given me new balance, that's for sure. Even on the way here this morning, he just kept saying, 'Crew golf today.' I have a funny feeling I'll be chasing golf balls at the house later today."

@BobSmizik @DanZangrilli If he was 22-23-24 it wouldn’t happen - now at 19 he can sign another monster contract and still be in his prime and not have to live through a 5 year garbage contract like Skenes did
English

@DanZangrilli Not sure how many #Pirates fans there are in the region and around the country, but I estimate several million. And I think I can say with absolute certainty you were the only person in that group who was not thoroughly astonished by the signing of Konnor Griffin for $140M.
English

Long post, but some thoughts and anecdotes on today, and the last 15 year track record of the Pirates.
Most anytime the Pirates have a homegrown, impact talent that they feel (at the time) is investable, they do it. In fact, I'd say it's more of an outlier when they don't. Since the Pirates dug out of deep debt and bad notes around 2011, they've been fairly aggressive to pay for projected *future* performance. So, I'm not all that shocked by the Griffin deal.
Obviously, some deals have worked, some haven't.
2011 - Tabata 6/15m with 3 options
2012 - McCutchen 6/51.5
2015 - JHay 4/27 +2 opt
2016 - Marte 6/31 + 2 opt
2016 - Polanco 5/35 + 2 opt
2022 - Hayes 8/70
2023 - Reynolds 8/107
2026 - Griffin 9/140
They fell short and couldn't get pen to paper with Walker, Cole and, most likely with Skenes. They also have, depending on competitive position and/or poor player performance, hit the eject button on the deals and traded them off (which is fine, I guess). However, the appetite for risk and playbook has always been there.
While today is terrific, I'm also somewhat surprised by the surprise, because the track record is there.
Thanks for reading.

@RedWavePress Totally agree - Trump can be downright exhausting to everyone - his actions aren’t the problem it’s the mechanism behind them

Megyn Kelly TORE into President Trump over his “completely irresponsible and disgusting” social media posts on Tuesday: “I don’t know about you, but I am sick of this sh*t! I’m just– I’m sick of it. Can’t he just behave like a normal human? I mean, honestly, like the president—‘3D chess’—just shut up! F*cking shut up about that sh*t! You don’t threaten to wipe out an entire civilization. We’re talking about civilians, just casually in a social media post.”
“I am the first to try to understand Trump and his strategy and not freak out over his weird social media posts and language that is loose and incendiary. Truly, I’ve lived with it for ten plus years. I learned it the hard way, when I was on the receiving end of it for nine months, and truly I think that was a gift to me in many ways because it helped me really come to understand what he does with his social media. But this is completely irresponsible and disgusting. This is wrong. It’s wrong. He should not be doing it.”
“I don’t care that it’s a—his negotiation tactic is to kill an entire country full of civilians—men, women, and children— an American president, so that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened? It’s just wrong. It’s not hard to say it, it’s not hard to recognize it. I wish he would stop doing this. Like, he can’t negotiate without doing this? What does that say about him?”
“What does that say about the position that our country is in right now in these negotiations? He’s got to say this? He can’t be a dignified, strong leader without threatening a bunch of war crimes? Like what is he, Genghis Khan? Like, what is he trying to do and why can’t he do it with strength – threats, sure, go for it – that don’t diminish and demean the United States of America in this way?”

These guys continually impress me with dumb takes. I’m shocked they can do it every single time. That is a special talent.
Foul Territory@FoulTerritoryTV
Why not just open the season with Konnor Griffin on the roster? The timing of everything shows that the Pirates are trying to extract the most value out of him, says @ErikKratz31.
