@garstonians @grizzly4paws This is the kind of ass-backwards logic that could only originate from a crusty, entitled boomer. Shoo, shoo boomer.

Working in @Waterstones today following the lockdown. No hand sanitiser provided, no wipes, no disinfectant, no reduced shop hours, cash still being accepted. We're being told by head office that gloves and masks are not permitted, meanwhile administrative staff...(cont.)

@garstonians @grizzly4paws So what happens when your manager disregards your concerns and denies you PPE even in light of the knowledge that you have a vulnerable person at home during a global pandemic?

@cxg174 @Waterstones Waterstones announced its closure late Sunday following massive public outcry. All staff are now home and safe. Thank you for your support in achieving this!

@MrRogerOnions @FionaShanks1 @HenryWellsbourn @Waterstones Actually the same day Waterstones announced their closure, it was only 4 hours before the closure announcement that they put out a different announcement, stating that we would be staying open as long as possible. In the end they only closed due to enormous public pressure.

Our special timetables started today, but hands up, there were some bits we didn't get right. We will be making some changes from Sunday 5th April: Earlier buses on the 1, 35, 79; the 48X for Clifton, key 53 am journeys and 35 going to/from Bulwell. nctx.co.uk/changes-our-sp…

@NotABotNotABot3 @Waterstones Cannot confirm anything as WS communication is still not clear. Will obviously be paid for hours already worked, but have seen one tweet about an employee being fired when they could have been furloughed (see @unfortunatalie 's tweet).

James Daunt responds. Yes, we are a threat to public health, but you can quarantine if you can afford it. Scant solace for my single mum co-worker. This is what he meant by 'natural depletion'. Naturally it's going down like cat sick on the company's intranet @samatlounge

James Daunt’s taking it well. Abusing his staff now for talking ‘utter shit’ before threatening jobs, and then intimidating authors who ‘should know better’ than to speak out against Waterstones. inews.co.uk/news/consumer/…

I'm really, really sorry to hear that Lauren. This is the true face of Waterstones beneath the false wholesome "oooh curl up with a booky-wooky under a blanky-wanky and a cuppa ;)" image they project.

@kk_liber @Waterstones Glad I don’t work for this shit company anymore who’ve just fired me today as they ‘can’t finish my probation period cause they are closed for 4 weeks or so’ basically just don’t want to have to pay any money out for sick pay

James Daunt keeps claiming the people who exposed the company’s treatment of their booksellers were “not employees” and “chatting shit”... boy, do I have news for you.

@PaulTubb1 @Waterstones That's fucking appalling. Profits>people once again. Are they still open following the formal lockdown?

@kk_liber @Waterstones Cotswold Outdoor is exactly the same situation except reduced hours. Head Office staff all sent home; meanwhile shop staff still expected to do boot and backpack fittings. Company has not provided hand sanitizer etc; staff bought it in earlier in the month.Totally unacceptable

Please, for the sake of me and my family, I am begging you to boycott The Range. It’s a non-essential store. Please. I’m desperate. @kk_liber thank you for speaking out 💕

@M_Robespierre @Di4bl3ss @KateLangstaff78 @Waterstones Formal reason given in the internal memo to staff was that "there was no evidence that masks have any efficacy outside of a clinical setting". Apparently PPE loses its structural properties if you're wearing them anywhere other than a hospital ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
