@mayukh_panja Good story but completely fake. During passport renewal you just need to enter the file number printed at the bottom of passport and no police verification and other coordination is required. P.S I have recently renewed my passport from UK and it was completely smooth.

There is something deeply impressive about how India handles logistics at scale. I recently renewed my Indian passport and along with it my German residence permit which is tied to my passport. It took me 30 days to get an appointment at the Indian Embassy. Once I got the appointment and submitted my documents in Berlin it took around 6 weeks to get back a new passport This involved coordinating with the passport office in Kolkata and the local police- the police had to physically verify the address of my permanent residence in Kolkata. Also, passports are not printed at the Embassy. They are printed in India and then flown to embassies around the world. This entire international affair with cross border movement of physical documents was done in 6 weeks. In contrast, it took me 6 weeks to just get an appointment at the Foreigner’s office (Ausländerbehorde) in Berlin. And just the printing of the new card will take around 8 weeks, all of which will be done within the city. I know a lot of stuff doesn’t work, but sometimes I cannot help but be amazed at how vast and sprawling our democracy, both literally and metaphorically, is and it is somehow still not falling apart.

@sandesh_samant They can go back to thier native place instead of being homeless. It has just become easy to built ghettos as they are well aware that during demolition some or other will pull up humanitarian card and they can continue enjoying free accommodation.

It's sad. Thousands will be homeless overnight in this heat. I understand it was an illegal settlement that needed clearing. But our system's failure is allowing these settlements to develop over decades, only to make people homeless. 😞

Stop glorifying rental income as passive income. In today’s time, if you invest ₹80 lakhs into a flat in Mumbai and give that flat on rent, there is a high chance you will lose your mental peace. Same thing is happening with me right now. I have a flat in Mira Road which is on rent. Today the electricity office called me and said they may cut the meter because the tenant has not paid the electricity bill on time. The bill is around ₹7000. Then the tenant started arguing with me saying there is some problem in the meter and asking how the bill can be so high. I told him, you are using AC, induction, and multiple electric appliances daily, obviously the bill will come high. Then he again started saying, “We do not use that much electricity.” At one point, being a landlord starts feeling like a full time stress job instead of passive income. Sometimes I genuinely feel it is better to sell the flat and invest those ₹80 lakhs into SWP or index funds. At around 12 percent returns, you can take nearly ₹70k monthly for 30 years peacefully, and even after 30 years you may still have around ₹2.6 crore left, which is probably more than the future value of that flat itself. No tenant drama. No electricity arguments. No maintenance stress. No society headaches. People talk a lot about return on investment. Very few people talk about return on mental peace. Real estate owners, tell me honestly. Is rental income still worth the stress today?

The report clearly states that the previous government under former CM @MKStalin had been in talks with DRDO for three years to anchor the project in Hosur. The DMK government offered 100 acres free of cost and proposed a 3.5 km runway at Hosur airport, making it strategically closer to ADA Bengaluru. *Then what happened?* The story itself uses the phrase “political considerations”. !!! What political considerations? How can strategic national defence investments be decided on political grounds? This shift is grossly unfair to Tamil Nadu and deeply damaging to the credibility of cooperative #federalism. I took several meetings on this single project and our team worked extremely hard over the last 3 years for this project and it personally deeply hurts to see this crucial project being shifted. The present location is also not technically superior to the one that we offered in TN ! The union govt owes the people of Tamil Nadu an explanation. One should also understand that a change in government should not matter with projects of such importance especially when Tamil Nadu is known for its policy continuity ! Am sure that the present dispensation will ensure the same. Tamil Nadu cannot afford any drift at this moment.The state needs an agile and astute Minister for Industries immediately to aggressively pursue and protect strategic investments. I also request Honourable @CMOTamilnadu Thiru. C.Joseph Vijay to personally step in on this issue at the earliest ! He must urgently write to the @PMOIndia and Honourable Minister for Defence Thiru @rajnathsingh explaining our location, manpower and infrastructural superiority. Since I did not see any need, I've not shared this information before. My marriage is an intercaste marriage. Casteism has nothing to do with Sanathana Dharma. Many are against casteism. In our family, we've proved by example. Attacking Sanathana Dharma is not attacking casteism. It is abusing Hinduism.
