@kkringlebotten It's not the presence of plates that converts 300,000+ a year, is it, Kjetil?

If we had the golden plates in a museum, and every expert in the world agreed Joseph translated the Book of Mormon correctly, would that "prove" The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true? Would everyone be compelled to join the Church?

@MiddleearthMixr The satire is that the movies should be viewed over the holidays.

If all that is cursed in adam is redeemed in Christ, and baptism is a means of receiving this redemption, then infants should be baptized.

@IFFFMEISTER Baptism is a display of devotion and faith, not a means of redemption.

@glnott @tc1415 @TheRealBeliveau She wasn't Elizabeth I of Scotland. After the Union the recognized rule is to use whatever ordinal is higher. By coincidence the English number was always higher when they didn't match.

Can we please note that it's (almost) never "King Charles". Any of the following are fine though - His Majesty the King - His Majesty - His Britannic Majesty - The King - King Charles III (the III is not optional) - Charles III (never just Charles, you need the III again) - Charles III By the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and His other Realms and Territories King Head of the Commonwealth Defender of the Faith (ok maybe don't use that one)

🚨 NOW: King Charles has a PRESIDENTIAL-level motorcade rolling through DC right now We now have an ACTUAL king on our soil, but there are NO SIGNS of any "No Kings" protests anywhere in the nation right now. Interesting how that works!

@shadowoftheali Do you think we’re supposed to root for them? Do you think that Francis Ford Coppola’s message was that having your brother murdered and dying alone after your daughter was murdered is desirable?

why are so many of the most acclaimed pieces of american art about a guy slowly becoming a piece of shit? citizen kane, the godfather, the sopranos, breaking bad. is the tale of the ego embedded into america as much as cowboys and hot dogs?

@IFFFMEISTER 1/2 What is weird here is not just that he completely makes up a straw man that virtually no one believes in, St. Thomas Aquinas taught that faith alone justifies, as he notes in his commentary on 1 Timothy 1:8, that “the law is good, if any one uses it lawfully”:

@AL_J82 “The apocrypha was disputed all the way until the time of Trent.” And that includes Hebrews, James, 2 Peter, 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and Revelation. Have you removed them from your Bible?

The reason why the "who gave you your Bible, bro" argument doesn't work for Roman Catholics is because A. They burned people at the stake for having a translation in the common tongue B. The apocrypha was disputed all the way until the time of Trent.
