Near Girish Chandra Dey & Sons sweet shop in Kolkata’s Lake Market, there’s a cart. No signboard. No branding. The wife assembles plates. The husband makes rotis. That’s it.
No written menu. You figure it out from the smell. Chicken curry. Veg kofta. Duck egg kosha. Basanti pulao. Chicken liver curry. And prices that feel like a mistake.
I’d gone to pick up duck egg kosha for my Maa. She has a thing about haansher dim. I was waiting, watching. Plate. Ladle. Roti. Steam. Phonepe. The usual.
Then a man walked in from the direction of Lake Mall. Office clothes, slightly worn. Small plastic bag in hand.
“I work there,” he said, nodding toward the mall. Then: “Aaj shudhu ruti enechhi. Torkaari lagbe… taka kaal debo?”
(Brought rotis today. Need some vegetables… can I pay tomorrow?)
No pause.
The wife reached for a plate. Mixed vegetables. Then egg curry — not asked for, just added.
“Aage khao, taakar kotha pore hobe.”
Eat first. Money can wait.
The husband took the plastic bag, warmed the rotis on his tawa, handed them back.
No word. Just done.
The man sat on the ledge nearby and ate.
Will a restaurant with mood lighting and a curated playlist do this?
Somewhere, size got in the way. Compassion became a process.
Here, if you’re hungry, you eat. That’s the whole system.
And somehow that’s the most premium experience in the city. In any city.

Indians are paying for 4K and watching the biggest game of their life in 720p and 1080p thanks to #JioHotstar
one of the worst sports streaming service ever to exist in India. Even FanCode is better.

@nimishdubey @CraigNelsy Some should start watching cricket all over again, of they don't know enough about #Kapildev. #Jasprit is once a generation cricketer, so was #Kapil. Probably, India's greatest!
English

And as folks fight over how good or bad Kapil and Bumrah are, trust @CraigNelsy to simplify it all.
"Never knock a champion."
Bravo, Craig, spoken like a follower of sport. And a good person.

That's the 15th catch dropped by #India in the #T20WorldCup #2026. Yet they are playing the #finals. Guess, catches don't win matches anymore! #IndiaVsNewZealand

28th of February, 2026 was my last day at CNBC-TV18. I have spent close to two decades at Network18 out of which 8 years were with CNBC-TV18.
I anchored & reported heavily on the criminal justice system, terrorism, politics, parliament, conflict & foreign affairs while I was at CNN-IBN, which later became CNN-News18. My time at St Stephen’s College & Faculty of Law equipped me with the strong academic grounding that I needed while starting my career.
At CNBC-TV18 as Chief of Bureau I was fortunate to meet & interview top business leaders & union ministers across sectors. I anchored & reported on the biggest economic policy, business, auto & financial sector stories impacting the country. I was responsible for curating new IPs like Newscentre, Global Eye & Global Lens on politics & foreign policy through an economic lens.
In my last few weeks at the channel, I was lucky to be a part of our coverage of the Union Budget, the India AI Summit & our company’s flagship event, the Rising Bharat Summit 2026.
For now I plan to take a break before I begin my next assignment!

@AnilAgarwal_Ved Oh my God. Never the day that any parent should ever see! Prayers for the family and the departed soul. May God give you all, the strength. Om Shanti Shanti 🙏

Today is the darkest day of my life.
My beloved son, Agnivesh, left us far too soon. He was just 49 years old, healthy, full of life, and dreams. Following a skiing accident in the US, he was recovering well in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. We believed the worst was behind us. But fate had other plans, and a sudden cardiac arrest snatched our son away from us.
No words can describe the pain of a parent who must bid goodbye to his child. A son is not meant to leave before his father. This loss has shattered us in ways we are still trying to comprehend.
I still remember the day Agni was born in Patna on 3 June, 1976. From a middle-class Bihari family, he grew into a man of strength, compassion, and purpose. The light of his mother’s life, a protective brother, a loyal friend, and a gentle soul who touched everyone he met.
Agnivesh was many things - a sportsman, a musician, a leader. He studied at Mayo College, Ajmer, went on to set up one of the finest companies Fujeirah Gold, became Chairman of Hindustan Zinc, and earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Yet, beyond all titles and achievements, he remained simple, warm, and deeply human.
To me, he was not just my son. He was my friend. My pride. My world.
Kiran and I are broken. And yet, in our grief, we remind ourselves that the thousands of young people who work across Vedanta are also our children.
Agnivesh believed deeply in building a self-reliant India. He would often say, “Papa, we lack nothing as a nation. Why should we ever be behind?”
We shared a dream to ensure that no child sleeps hungry, no child is denied education, every woman stands on her own feet, and every young Indian has meaningful work. I had promised Agni that more than 75% of what we earn would be given back to society.
Today, I renew that promise and resolve to live an even simpler life.
There was so much life ahead of him. So many dreams yet to be lived. His absence leaves a void for his family and friends. We thank all his friends, colleagues and well-wishers for always being there for him.
Beta, you will live on in our hearts, in our work, and in every life you touched.
I do not know how to walk this path without you, but I will try carrying your light forward.

Perplexity just quietly dropped a 42-page internal guide on how they actually use AI at work.
What I found most useful:
→ How they automate the small stuff. Email, meeting prep, research (all done by AI)
→ Using AI to amplify your curiosity, not replace it.
→ Their prompting playbook is simple, practical, and genuinely good.
Comment “AI” and I’ll send it to you for free.

@kkschats @T3 @DelhiAirportGMR Bang on with the observation! It has really become tough to get in & get out. Imagine the plight of passengers who can't walk to the place where cabs are parked!!
English

What a royal mess Delhi @T3 airport has become. Disorderly parking, long queues at taxi checkouts. It takes more time to get out of the #airport than fly in. @DelhiAirportGMR
