At the World War II Memorial, stone and bronze honor the millions who served, remember those who never came home, and mark a turning point in the fight to restore freedom. As the generation who lived this history grows smaller, places like this ensure their stories endure. After the Kentucky Derby I wondered how Cherie DeVaux would describe what she just achieved, as the first female trainer in 152 years to win the Run for the Roses. Her answer centered on the power of believing your dreams. “A lot has been made about a female trainer winning the Kentucky Derby. I’m honored that I get to be that person. And I hope this paves the way for any little girl with big dreams, or woman with big dreams. “I always thought the sky was the limit. Now it really, truly is the limit.”

The Trump Admin proposed a 37% cut in FY2026 and a 25% cut in FY2027. I realize I’m an annoying single issue poaster and voter but this isn’t right. The FY27 budget slashes construction and maintenance, so jobs for our young guys. Our National Parks are worth protecting.
