@KeruboSk My great grandparents were all born in the 1880s. Two died when I was 12 in the 1970s and my last great grandfather died at age 94 in 1986.

Just out of curiosity… who out there has actually talked to someone born in the 1800s during their lifetime?

@INDOCHINO @tommyony I went to Indochino San Antonio at Nordstrom today and they do not handle women. Very disappointed as I have been losing weight in anticipation of a new suit.

@INDOCHINO I have had the worst customer service experience from the shop in New Orleans. The salesperson has hung up on me. I hate that I gave them a cent. No one else should. Beware. Terrible customer service.

I finished this quilt last week after eight months of work. Posted it on Facebook with the caption "My first quilt, what do you think?" and waited for my seventy-three friends to respond. Not one comment. Not one like. I sat in my sewing room crying because I'm seventy-four years old and apparently invisible now. My husband has been in memory care for a year. Doesn't recognize me when I visit, calls me by his sister's name, asks when his wife is coming. Our friends stopped calling months ago because watching someone disappear into dementia is too uncomfortable. I'm alone in this house with nothing but fabric and thread to keep my hands busy enough that my mind can't spiral into the silence. I spent eight months on this quilt. Hand-stitched every piece, stayed up until 2am most nights working on it because I can't sleep in our bed anymore without him. Chose blue and cream because those were our wedding colors in 1972. Made it big enough to cover our king bed hoping maybe it would make the empty space feel less enormous. My daughter found me crying over the Facebook post. She took my phone without asking and posted the quilt in some group online. I didn't even know how any of that worked. Within two hours I had three hundred notifications. People asking about my techniques, my pattern, begging to buy my work. A quilt shop owner in Oregon offered me a commission. A woman in Texas said she cried looking at the detail. My daughter showed me the messages and I couldn't speak. Just kept reading them over and over thinking this must be a mistake. She helped me join online that night and set up a shop. That was three weeks ago. I've sold four quilts and have a six-month waitlist. Yesterday someone recognized me at the fabric store from my online shop and asked for a photo. I called my daughter from the parking lot laughing and crying because a stranger knew my name and valued my work. My husband doesn't know who I am anymore but hundreds of people online do. They see what I make and treat it like it matters. For the first time in a year I don't feel invisible. I exist again not as someone's wife or mother but as a maker, an artist, someone whose hands create things people want. I'm sitting in my sewing room right now starting a new quilt with fabric I bought from another maker's online shop. My Facebook friends never commented but my online community gave me my life back.

@COSAGOV The Eastern Mescalero Apaches used wikiups for summer shelter. They ranged across New Mexico, Arizona and parts of Texas. They are now in Ruidoso, NM & operate Ski Apache & the casino. Look forward to seeing them.

San Antonio is built on the ancestral lands of many Indigenous communities who continue to shape our culture and future. Today, we proudly honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day by highlighting “Midden Mound Wickiups” by artist Buster Simpson, a tribute to the enduring legacy of Indigenous communities. Inspired by traditional wickiups, the installation reflects the historical presence of Indigenous peoples and their light footprint on the land. The structures stand atop what was once a city landfill, now transformed into Pearsall Park, symbolizing renewal and respect for the environment. ❤️ #IndigenousPeoplesDay #SATXCommunity #PearsallPark

@MicDyer22 @hpwatchdog @Suzierizzo1 Christianity is not the official religion of the U.S. nor of Texas. There is no official religion. On occasion the Texas Legislature opens with prayers from rabbis and even imam.

@thecavemommy One thing we do well in Bexar County (greater San Antonio), TX. is that parents of children under age 10 who are the sole caregivers are excused from jury duty. Contact your elected officials and demand reform!

Well, I tried to tell the courts multiple times I can’t do jury duty cuz I’m pregnant and the full time care taker to our one year old, and they seem to not care, so me and the kiddo are pulling up to jury duty tomorrow, I literally told them MULTIPLE TIMES I don’t have child care lmao, so I guess we just have to drive there and get dismissed. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how the flooding in Texas became so devastating so quickly. Why not evacuate?? Then I saw this: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes, around 4 a.m. That doesn’t even seem natural.

Mike Johnson would hate for you to know that nearly 40% of his district is on Medicaid. Or that 1.6 million Louisianans — about 35% of the state — rely on it. It would be terrible if this information went viral.

@ZachWLambert We must reckon with the fact that human interactions published on the internet are not representative of culture as a whole, and grifters who aren't directly involved the drama will build their brand by faking empathy. The vast majority of those people identify as Christians.

We must reckon with the fact that a significant number of Americans won’t pay for hungry kids to get lunch or sick kids to get healthcare, but they will pay $500,000 to a white woman for calling a 5-year-old Black kid the n-word. We also must reckon with the fact that the vast majority of these people identify as Christian.

@NickNiglio74 @irishrygirl And that 1 person who needlessly died was precious to their family. Perhaps that death could have been prevented with education or an impartial consideration of the risks.

Seriously, this seems like a major problem here. Elon's tweet said that if federal workers didn't respond it will be "taken as a resignation." But the actual emails don't say that. Which means that unless you saw the tweet you could be... screwed.

There are some self-proclaimed Christians pushing voucher scams. Vouchers take money from public schools and give it to wealthy parents who already send their kids to private school. I can’t think of anything more un-Christian than stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
