@DanNeidle Might any penalties have been suspended? Is that possible in this scenario?

Happy to discuss any aspect of this, and if anyone identifies any error in our analysis I'll correct asap. But I fear lots of people will whine I'm biased in favour of or against Ms Rayner. I'm just going to block whiners straight away.

The Guardian is reporting Angela Rayner has now paid £40,000 of extra stamp duty, but HMRC accepted she wasn't "careless" and so she didn't pay a penalty. On the public facts, that’s hard to understand. Here’s why:

@SeneddWaste I think Labour as so deeply unpopular, that they will really not be able to support any lunatic far left policies, if they wish to revive their fortunes to any degree. At least I hope so, because God help us otherwise 😱

Behold my Sloe Gin! I picked these Sloes in September from the banks of the Grand Union Canal near Greenford and made into gin. It’s now ready. Look at that gorgeous colour. Decanting into bottles and taste test very soon. I just need to think of a name for it to print the labels

The walk home tonight. I can see my boat from here. It’s more picturesque here than where I lived this morning.

I now need to go to the Gents. If you don’t hear from me again, it’s because I’ve fallen down these bloody stairs.

@QcWynter Costs a small fortune to be able to watch all the sport. I'm especially disappointed that the European Cup Rugby has ended up somewhere weird. It's simply not affordable to subscribe to everything.

When I subscribed to Sky Sports, it had all the football, all the test match cricket &, for a while, all of the rugby. Now, it has none of the test match cricket, none of the rugby and only some of the football. Time to speak to the subscription people, who will offer me a deal.

My favourite hymn and one that I want to be played at my funeral 50 or so years from now. I did not know any of this, so a lovely way to start the day.

Your annual reminder that the author of the words to “Abide With Me” was a Protestant clergyman called Henry Lyte. Regarded as a cold rigid and prickly man, he showed absolutely no poetic talent - at all - until September 1847, when he was dying of tuberculosis and in great pain Then, suddenly he sat down and wrote these words, in one burst. He died seven weeks later ****** Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me. Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day; Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou who changest not, abide with me. Come not in terrors, as the King of kings; But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings; Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea; Come, Friend of sinners, thus abide with me. I need Thy presence every passing hour; What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power? Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me. I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death’s sting? where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies; Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me

@rbeccabeneworth We are already seeing clients baulking at the potential additional costs of MTD. We will be the 'bad guys'.

Phew! 34 VAT returns in a month done by 3pm this afternoon. I look at every single one but hoping my new member of staff starting 1 Dec can reduce the pressure. MTD will add to the workload in the big month but I’m determined to get my bookkeepers up to scratch to file on time.
