He was just the starting center on a finals team. It’s more the guys like Wendell Carter or beef stew where they don’t have the gravity for teams to care

@knickswithknack @MarzTalksSports @Suleymamba @_WhoZ07_ I think stationary 3pt bigs like Myles Turner are the problem. Never step into the paint enough to provide enough pressure. Its the off ball version of a guard who refuses to get 2 feet in the paint on drives or a wing that can’t cut.

My hot take is 3pt shooting for most bigs provides very little value on the floor

Not that Raleigh is a popular guy to defend right now, but a bunch of QTs of this calling him unclutch and all this stuff, because he bombed one as soon as the lights were dimmer. The dude had 13 plate appearances in the WBC with 4 BBs for a .367 OBP but yeah was 0-for-9 in official ABs. What I think is insane is I have seen no one comment about Mark DeRosa benching the MVP runner-up after 9 hitless ABs. That's it, 9 ABs, mixed within 4 BBs and a good OBP. DeRosa didn't use a 60-HR guy as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 9th of a 1-run championship game. As far as the clutch allegations, you guys just don't know ball. The only reason you didn't see it is you don't watch west coast games and Raleigh didn't even play in the high-leverage WBC games. Last October, Raleigh had a 1.081 OPS in 12 playoff games, with 4 HRs in the ALCS alone, including multiple tying or go-ahead bombs. He has several other dramatic HRs in recent years. M's fans know how absurd this claim is. I'd like to also point out he's a good defensive catcher and the backup Will Smith failed to throw out a bad jump on the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th, forcing his infielder to short-hop a throw and be late with a tag when the ball beat the runner. But more to the point, absolutely crazy DeRosa did not use Raleigh as a PH in the final because he went 0-for-9 with 4 BBs over 13 PAs. But you're not hearing that because east coast idiots stay talking about west coast stuff they know nothing about.

To those notes about the ALCS, he tied Game 1 with a solo HR in the 6th inning, he tied Game 5 with a solo HR in the 8th inning, and he pushed a 2-1 lead to a 3-1 lead in the 5th inning of Game 7 with yet another solo HR. The first two were the highest-leverage plays of those respective games, per baseball-reference, while the third was the second highest-leverage play, behind only George Springer's later go-ahead and series-winning HR. A few years ago, in 2022, the M's made the postseason for the first time in 20 years. Raleigh hit a walk-off HR that clinched it, late in the regular season, then went 4-for-8 in the wild card series win with a Game 1 HR that was the highest-leverage play of that game, and Game 2 double in the top of the 9th of a tie game that became the game-winning run. I don't even know if I believe in the clutch gene, but Cal Raleigh makes me rethink it. For the third time I will say Mark DeRosa deserves massive criticism for not using this guy in either the semifinal or the final over 9 hitless ABs where he was still displaying a good eye and walking at a high enough rate to have a strong OBP without a single hit boosting it. I mean the hitless thing is literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard when it is a guy who posted an OBP over .350 during the hitless streak. Somebody learn ball.

Part of the problem with the OBAA discourse on here is that people will watch this scene and think it’s PTA writing what he thinks revolutionaries sound like as opposed to just trying to make the French 75 sound like how every Weather Underground knockoff talked.
