Great pleasure to be back at the Korean International School Hong Kong to lead an all staff PD on "Empowering Educators in the AI Era: From Ethics to Efficiency" In previous years, AI sessions were predominantly focused on the "how"—covering as many practical tools as possible to boost teacher efficiency. Now, we must discuss beyond the "skills." This time, their main interest was in the issue of student over-reliance on AI for assignments. Education must be ethical and give students quality opportunities to think critically. We spent a long time discussing "AI-Resistant Assignment Design Methods" and "Guidelines for Proper AI Usage." One week since the Knobase (@knobase_) public beta announcement (I survived). And here's why I kept private alpha for 7 months. The AI project Knobase started in Dec 2024. It took exactly one year for it to finally see the light. -- People: hey finally there must be some users on your platform! Me: Well, every day for the past 7+ months... there have always been users. People: ??? -- Until last week, I had never officially launched it, but just with our MVP, since April, we secretly deployed Knobase for B2B clients. Across just a few pages, we see hundreds of active users interacting with the pages' proprietary knowledge AI. That way, I observed interesting user behaviors and use cases that inspired me to add exciting features. Most importantly, I was able to fix the code. I kept pushing new codes that eventually... broke many things. My clients immediately found me -- and I fixed things eventually. There's no such thing as perfection. I guess that's why we should just launch no matter what. Things will still break. But hey. I can fix it! Welcome to the Knobase beta.

Anyone can book a 15-min call with the founder (me), and that's what I learned from Ghita from ZeroEntropy (YC W25) (@ZeroEntropy_AI). It was a few months ago when I had just one weekend to build the RAG feature for Knobase from scratch with no prior experience. Perplexity searches didn't give me good results, and, what a timing, I saw a post from Y Combinator (@ycombinator) on LinkedIn about ZeroEntropy. I checked their landing page, and I could talk directly to the founder -- like tomorrow. I booked a meeting right away and was waiting in Google Meet curious if she'll actually show up. Ghita actually showed up and answered my questions very kindly. I dropped all the other competitors' solutions and went with ZeroEntropy since then -- and I'm happily using it until today. She is also super accessible through Slack. That's when I realized -- I should make myself accessible, too. That's a short story of why the Knobase website has a public booking calendar. Let's see if I can handle all the requests and random events showing up on my calendar, but I feel good about this.

Remember: Charging for bottled water was considered crazy. Then we realized we weren't paying for hydration; we were paying for trust. AI is making raw knowledge cheap. It is a race to the bottom. I'm counter-gambling on the top. The more content AI generates, the higher the premium on genuine, scarce human experience.
