@SebAaltonen This was splatoon style tech, on Quest 2, so painfully aware of TBDR resolve costs 😭 No Vulkan either unfortunately. Just a Rube Goldberg chain of compute and rasterizer tricks, across several frames to make FPS.

@kode80 Yeah. Could be cheaper indeed. But the algorithm I designed for mobile is able to do the whole material composing graph inside the TBDR tile memory. Can't read neighbors without resolving intermediate targets to memory. Don't want to do that to make it super fast.

I was thinking about the UV unwrap chart seam issue in a runtime material composer system. Usually people blur or replicate the edge pixels. Since we will be generating a position.xyz map, we can just replicate position pixels once. Don't need to replicate repeatedly.

@SebAaltonen Yup! Although in our case it ended up being a net win to conditionally skip work for texels outside of charts and then dilate at the end to fix seams.

@kode80 That works too. But you can do that with the position map too, just dilate the edge position once. No need to dilate per frame at all.
