🧵 The historic NYT v. @OpenAI lawsuit filed this morning, as broken down by me, an IP and AI lawyer, general counsel, and longtime tech person and enthusiast. Tl;dr - It's the best case yet alleging that generative AI is copyright infringement. Thread. 👇

Folks, if you say on the website you have a van, please *actually* have a van. North Station staff said there is no shuttle. Not really cool for folk struggling with long walks. @MayorWu @MBTA

@MBTA @MayorWu I had need of one about half an hour ago. I asked several of your North Station attendants for help getting one. ALL of them said there were none.

@greg_price11 Also, 11 years in prison is the most they could possibly face. Odds of a lesser sentence are extremely high.

BREAKING: Pro life activists Jean Marshall (73) and Joan Bell (74) were just convicted for blocking the entrance to an abortion clinic and now face 11 years in prison. It's good to see the Biden DOJ removing these hardened criminals from our streets.

@greg_price11 Yeah - broke in. Blocked the entrances. Injured a patient and multiple staff. You left out the 41yo man who was also there. You do the crime, expect to do the time.

@Catrambo If art is connecting ideas or thoughts together in new ways, then wouldn’t one’s art tend to *improve* as one collected more bits to connect? I certainly feel like my work has. :)

Sad to see such a terrific writer promulgating this sort of gatekeeping. You can write at any age, and you can start writing at any age. Some people don't get the chance until later in life. Their writing is just as good. IMO.

@JoeyMannarinoUS No, mostly people dislike her for the lying the the hypocrisy. She literally got caught fondling a guy in public who owns a gay bar that runs drag shows. I’m actually OK with all of that except the public groping bit, but she’d call for fire and brimstone if anyone else did that.

@RepMTG I’m relatively confident that the irony of you calling out other politicians for mental health incompetence is entirely lost on you. :)

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸
Severe aging health issues and/or mental health incompetence in our nation’s leaders MUST be addressed. Biden, McConnell, Feinstein, and Fetterman are examples of people who are not fit for office and it’s time to be serious about it. 1/2

@AmazngAuthors If reading Ulysses on iPhone is sacrilege, then taking in Homer’s Odyssey any way other than listening to the oral story would also be sacrilege. ;) This sort of thing is stilly. :)

@KOMcLaughlin @DJcalligraphy @EdKrassen Yeah, now that she was freed. Prior to that, I'm not sure she was too interested in what this country stood for, which is freedom that she knelt for because she didn't honor those who fought for her to have that right.

Just because Megan Rapinoe and others on the US Women's Soccer Team decided in the past to kneel for the National Anthem, it doesn't mean that they "hate America." There is nothing more that I dislike than when other people want to tell you why someone else does what they do. You don't live in her head. You can't read her mind, so stop pretending you can. You can disagree with what she does. That's fine. But to say that she "hates America" is disingenuous. Instead, how about we take Rapinoe's own reasoning for why she kneels for the Anthem: "I can understand if you think that I'm disrespecting the flag by kneeling, but it is because of my utmost respect for the flag and the promise it represents that I have chosen to demonstrate in this way. When I take a knee, I am facing the flag with my full body, staring straight into the heart of our country's ultimate symbol of freedom — because I believe it is my responsibility, just as it is yours, to ensure that freedom is afforded to everyone in this country. "I simply cannot stand for the kind of oppression this country is allowing against its own people. I have chosen to kneel because, in the words of Emma Lazarus, 'until we are all free, we are none us free." You don't have to agree that kneeling for the Anthem is the best way to stand for freedom. I would actually agree that it isn't. But to say she "hates America," is just an ignorant assumption. Different people show respect, hate, love, and honor in different ways. Instead of attacking one another, how about just trying to understand each other? I think we all need to do more of that, myself included.

@LaurieP51736687 @DJcalligraphy @EdKrassen Clearly she doesn’t despise that freedom, since she is actively using it. Protest speech is one of the MOST American things anyone can do, because this is one of the only places in the world it is fully, wholly protected.

@DJcalligraphy @EdKrassen If she disrespected another country like she does ours, she would be imprisoned or worse. Yes, we have freedoms in this country, that other countries don't have nor tolerate. I think Brittany Griner should have stayed in Russia prison to understand the freedom that she despised.

@TyGrayson024 @DJcalligraphy @EdKrassen ANY oppression is bad. Pointing out the fact that one of the most oppressive places on Earth is worse than the US is not a glowing endorsement of US policies. ;) Now, if you said we had less oppression than Denmark, you’d just be being silly. :)

@DJcalligraphy @EdKrassen You’re clearly not living in the same United States I am. I think it’s OK to perform a peaceful, respectful protest when things are as bad as they are today, yes.

Look at how she words her statement: "I simply cannot stand for the kind of oppression this country is allowing against its own people." Our country isn't allowing oppression. Our country affords all humans the same freedoms. There are certain people that may do things she doesn't like, but that has nothing to do with our country. She is there to represent our country, and she openly disrespects it instead.
