@Martin_Ecology I gather you enjoyed our paper Martin! ;) I guess i'd add that a paper is more than a map or an analysis. The questions it asks and the discussion it prompts are as important. Methods should be assessed in the context of the aims, where sometimes an overlay works fine...

We are not suggesting this land all needs to be locked up in protected areas - there are many levers we can pull as conservationists (see discussion section) - and we need to use the best one for each local context. The places just need to be managed so biodiversity can persist

1.8 billion people live on the land needing conservation that we mapped. So actions must promote the autonomy and self-determination of people who call the land their home - this requires rights based approaches to conservation @EcocideGenocide @RightsResources @kundan_kumarkun
