@jgeldmann Thank Jonas. A real pet peeve for me is when authors say that conservation (and PAs in particular) is failing/not effective because biodiversity is still being lost. No thinking about what things would be like if we did nothing!

That our results (focused on those cases with conservation action) contrasts with global declines 📉, is not surprising given the massive funding shortfall in conservation: esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.100…. And our results highlight that to stop biodiversity loss we need more 💵

So excited to see our meta-analysis on the impact of conservation action, led by @pennyultimate now out: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…. In short: we show that against the backdrop of unprecedented 🌍 biodiversity decline, where we do act, we can start to bend the curve. 🎉🍾

I worry that biodiversity loss deniers might jump on studies like this. But it's still good science and worth doing!

Other data on individual species, species extinctions rates & wide scale conversion of natural habitat, provide strong evidence to suggest biodiversity loss 🐦

@ForrestFleisch1 In this same situation last month we got an esim from nomad which worked great for data. Not having a local number was a pain though as you can't use any local apps for delivery etc
