From a friend who is an APC insider: Please read 👇 Felix, let me tell you categorically, as an insider, I have been present in some of the meetings held by the APC campaign team. APC is totally confused as it stands now. They never believed Atiku, Peter Obi and Kwankwaso would successfully merge together, including Nasir El-Rufai. They know that if this election goes free and fair, there’s no magic that will make them get the total amount of votes that will surpass the Coalition. That’s why they are doing everything to cripple ADC, possibly to stop them from fielding any candidate for the upcoming election. And let me tell you, if ADC does not do something extraordinary, they will lose the chance of fielding a candidate for this coming election. APC will make this happen. APC’s plan is to run unopposed with the PDP candidate, who has no force, and other small parties like Sawore and the Labour Party. And lastly, let me tell you: El-Rufai is not coming out of detention anytime soon. He will be in detention till one month to the main election; that’s the plan, and many Southwest governors are suggesting it. I will still keep you updated as things unfold. @ADCNig @BolajiADC @PeterObi @ADCVanguard_ @atiku

On INEC. I don’t think it’s appropriate for anyone with direct links (or strong, publicly known political affiliation) to the Presidency to post in defense of INEC during a self-inflicted integrity crisis which is emanating from the very top of the commission. INEC is the electoral umpire; the leadership must pass the thumb-rule of fairness. When there are indicators/evidence of political partisanship, the ruling party can’t have people in official positions defending it. INEC certainly has a media and PR budget; if there’s a need to communicate, let them contract professionals to push whatever rebuttal they have. Of which, I believe that a tell-it-all-as-it-is press conference would have been a good start to managing this self-inflicted integrity crisis. Wherever it then leads.
