It was a pleasure to speak at the APLAR-QCR 2026 Summit in Almaty. My topic was Comorbidities in Spondyloarthritis and Influence on Treatment Options.
Kazakhstan is a truly lovely country, and Almaty is an exceptionally beautiful city with wonderful hospitality, scenery, and culture. Strongly recommended for everyone to visit.

@spaelanay Congratulations Dr Sahib for this well-deserved award.

The government of KP has decisively taken a strong stance against government employees and officials implicated in facilitating militants and terrorists, placing over 2,000 individuals under strict scrutiny. This initiative involves swiftly identifying suspects and implementing severe disciplinary measures, including termination of services for those found culpable. Identified individuals will be placed on the Fourth Schedule, ensuring rigorous monitoring. This is a crucial and imperative step, as terrorists operate with the help of facilitators and sympathizers embedded at all levels. Given the alarming rise of terrorism in the province, it is essential for the government to enact aggressive measures to combat this menace before it spirals further out of control.

@koolkopper @khatircalls Tanchi bazar was my daily rout to collage near old GTS adda through the walled city in late 1960s.

The old water tank in Bannu city, called ‘Tanchi’, is an engineering marvel with the bazar deriving its name from it. Built in 1926 during the British era, the historic Bannu Water Tank stands nearly 85 feet tall and once served as the city's main water supply. With a storage capacity of 100,000 gallons (around 400,000 litres), this century-old structure remains a symbol of Bannu’s engineering heritage and ancient water distribution system. Constructed by the TATA Company and supervised by contractor Jaan of Mamandkhel, the tank was supplied through a remarkable gravity-flow system that carried water from Kurram Garhi via the Das Hazaar Canal over a distance of about 13 kilometres, all without machinery. Despite being designed for 50 years, the tank has survived for almost 100 years. However, due to age and lack of maintenance, leaks and structural deterioration have developed, and water supply from the tank has now been suspended. As a kid, while living in Bannu I would love its sights. I would ride my cycle and go to the bazar to fetch my school stationery and bakery items for my home. Nearby was Saleem Theatre Cinema where I saw many movies with my family. Sadly the beautiful city of Bannu has now become a hotbed of terrorism losing its beauty and peace.

During Donald Trump’s welcome in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping displayed carefully controlled and highly choreographed body language aimed at projecting authority wrapped in warmth. During their much-discussed handshake, Trump appeared to employ his trademark prolonged grip and pull, but Xi stood firm, subtly resisting and reinforcing his position as the dominant host. While Trump used gestures such as hand and arm pats to signal familiarity, Xi’s non-verbal cues remained measured, disciplined, and calculated, ensuring the encounter unfolded strictly on Chinese terms. This all depicts that China is engaging the US on equal footing rather than as a subordinate power.

Having been on Facebook, X and WhatsApp for a long time, it is sad to see a new breed of subscribers who are abusive, intolerant & illmannered. This applies more to Pakistan where political parties are operating fake accounts through which those opposing their ideology are trolled. The comments made on X are at times unreadable. Many of them are made by ladies who are at the forefront. What is more ironic is that at times even friends become hostile in WhatsApp groups. Have seen many old friends falling out & leaving groups of schoolmates. Such a type of hostility & intolerance was non-existent earlier. All these apps which were initially bringing people together are now becoming a cause of dissension & hatred. Respecting the opinion of others & having a courteous debate should be the aim. If one lacks patience & tolerance it is better to stay away from such forums.
