Babies are like the One Ring: first you carry them in a "pocket"/on a "chain", then you "put them on" & start calling them "My Precious" while separation feels like the "Cracks of Doom", & if you do leave them on their own, you turn on the "Great Eye" to... to keep an eye on them

I'm not sure how I feel about promotional toys. Like, it seems harmless to let a child play with Deutsche Bahn trains or Albert Heijn groceries, but messed up if they develop deeply rooted preferences for brands from their childhood toys.

@marinwaves For me, "I have a daughter" or "my daughter is 1" mean "I'm a mother of this child", "I gave birth to her a year ago". But there're also a feeling of responsibility, the legal meaning of it, and what not. Arguing against ownership is ok, reductionism isn't.

@marinwaves Have you read 'Orbital' (Booker Prize 2024) yet? I loved its humanistic poeticism. The political criticism was understandable but misdirected (it's never been easy to preach "There is neither Jew nor Greek" in times of war)

I am very close to starting a male only secret group devoted to safely expressing anger. It will be for boys who weren't allowed to feel anger and were shunned by society because of it. How should I call it. I am thinking "Fight club" or something.

@marinwaves I would first define "older". I feel there's a "golden hour" of open-mindedness somewhere between adolescence and advancing years when we are more open-minded. At all other times, you're either framing your mind or protecting it.

The only useful advice I have for my deficit of attention in unplanned activities is "do not put it down". Completely finish handling, cleaning, returning, and arranging the thing. Make a detour, walk twice if you must, do it right now. Out of sight out of mind.

Ok a very serious question: How do you organize your plates at home? 🍽️ 1️⃣ By color—stacking small and big plates together so you have stacks of different colors. 2️⃣ By size—keeping all small plates in one stack and big ones in another.

@CrazysdiamondN Ого, я даже и не надеялась, что существует такая опция, мастер в тот же день! Видели новость про отмену концерта почти 100-летнего дирижера в Мюнхене, когда маэстро уже стоял на сцене? Ложная сигнализация, перезагрузка не помогла, а штатный электрик вышел на пенсию. Тепла вам!!!

Сегодня вселенная решила что раз мы более менее отошли от ковида то можно и новый челлендж. Проснулись с не работающим котлом, у владельцев дома нет контракта на сервис, мы вызвали какого то мастера, ждём. Дома 14 тепла.
