My son loves planes and I had the perfect idea for a takeoff game for the Playdate. >crank just right to take off >tons of real planes >streaks for perfect take offs >fun sounds I set my claw off on the task during breaks at work and had a working game when I got home 😇

@LucasRolff @tdinh_me In Bulgaria where I live is 1 month. Regardless, this should be an API call subtime somewhere. Anything more than a day is needless.

@marinwaves @tdinh_me And yes, EU Inc. is a cool idea, I look forward to it. But the majority of countries in EU doesn't take months to register a company and get your VAT ID. The majority is sub-2 weeks. 3+ months thus is not "normal". Yes DE,FR and ES are all slow in this regard :)

@esyx0 @tdinh_me Btw do you know how services like Stripe Atlas and other similar that help you incorporate in the US actually work? I don't see the point because you will always be under the local laws of where you live and work, not where you incorporate.

@marinwaves @tdinh_me yea been there done that. yep I was reading that yesterday, it would be cool if they introduced some eu global single tax (low) but let's see. talk is cheap

@marinwaves @tdinh_me no point imo if you live in the EU, you will still need to follow up local rules and taxed where you live

@marinwaves @tdinh_me A European generalizing like that is interesting 🤣 it's pretty instant in both NL and DK at least.

@marinwaves I used to worry that my friends cared about me less, and that they only hung out out of convenience or as a last resort. Then I started to ask myself: Are your friends nice people? Yes. Then why are you making them mean people in your head?

I am quite interested about how you foster your friendships and do you expect reciprocity in the relationship, meaning - do you often reach out to check how the other is doing and do you expect the same from them? I for example have noticed that I am much more proactive than the average person, but sometimes it gets to the point where I am the only person "doing the work" and there is zero reciprocity. Then this makes me feel like losing interest in fostering the connection and it just fizzles out eventually.

@michelleakin I think that's a very beautiful way to approach it cause you make it clear from the beginning what you want rather than assuming.

@michelleakin Awesome. Also sounds like you both put effort into it. It doesn't seem one sided.

@marinwaves my coach worked with me on this at the time, precisely because i realized I didn’t have any truly close friendships, just a lot of acquaintances! so I did it very intentionally

This is really useful thanks for sharing Michelle! Did you particularly said "I kind of need around 5 close friendships or it just happened naturally". I feel part of my struggles is I seem to have a lot of very close friends and maybe it's not sustainable at some point and I should not expect what I am expecting

a topic i love! i will give you my friend relationships rundown: i only have a few close friendships where i (or they) would reach out to check in. long distance old friends are in: Cali, Canada, VT The Canada friend I have a standing zoom call with. it's on the calendar but sometimes we have to cancel. we try for weekly which usually means we end up with 1-2x per month. we chat for an hour. Cali friend is my former comedy partner. she is touring right now so no expectation of regular calls, but we check in every few months and hop on a call to catch up. we rarely text otherwise. VT friend and I used to have a standing weekly call + daily texting but that has shifted (i initiated the shift, i wanted less on my schedule) so now we play a game of trying to guess when they other is free and chat on the phone. probably happens once every 2 months local friends: we try to do dinner 1x per quarter in a group and we have a text thread that has mostly died except when someone has something urgent happening, and then everyone jumps in to support. but that's rare, i'm talking emergencies. so those people are always there for me if i really need them, but we don't talk regularly I have one friend who lives a little over 2 hours away so we don't really get together in person but we text every day, sometimes send long voice memos back and forth, or hop on a call if a story we need to debrief is too long. we used to have a standing call as well but decided we don't need it i also have a good friend from twitter who comes to see me about twice a year and we also have a phone call every 3 months or so as needed i have scattered acquaintances who i sometimes text out of the blue or they text me. 1-5x a year maybe? and finally, i have my xbox friends group chat. we used to message in there constantly and play together every day but that has fizzled out. hubs and i met one of the guys in person in january so we have a closer connection to him in general and might do something in person again this year, but we play with him maybe 1x per week. he and i exchange music sometimes, no phone calls. those are all my friendships off the top of my head! i have specifically chosen and cultivated all of them. the long distance ones are people i have known 1-2 decades. but i remember at some point i literally wrote down the 5 relationships i want to cultivate and then focused on them. all 5 are on this list. it took specific intention and effort on my part, and i was not coy about it, i let them know and they agreed they wanted to cultivate it too. i hope any of this is useful!

/r/mildlyinteresting In Portugal you pay up to €7.50 when you buy a laptop called a "copyright levy" You pay €4/TB of storage in the computer, so for a MacBook Neo 13" with 512GB that's €2.05 It's regulation made in 1998 to compensate artists for you illegally sharing MP3 files which nowadays of course doesn't make sense anymore since we have Spotify and YouTube Much of the money doesn't even arrive with artists btw, 30% is taken by the organization collecting the tax and lot of it remains unclaimed and some of that goes again to the organization collecting the tax as "operational costs" 🤡
