@IndyAsapScot No it won’t. Nor should it be a matter for politicians anyway, it should be the subject of a public referendum. Palliative care doesn’t always work and, therefore, patients should have a choice with appropriate safeguards.

The McArthur assisted death by suicide bill is going to have a horrific affect on Scotland. Similar bills are destroying other western countries. It’s not just a slippery slope - it’s a full blown plummet into chaos and coercion of the most vulnerable. Tell your MSP to stand against it or lose your vote

@DrPamGosal @gracebrod1e So instead you are going to let people die agonising deaths. This is why politicians shouldn’t be voting on this subject, it requires the public to have a vote. 🙁

Tonight, MSPs will be asked to make a very important decision. I will be voting against the Assisted Dying Bill as vulnerable people could be coerced into taking their lives, while the scope of the bill could be expanded. I hope MSPs defeat it. news.stv.tv/politics/msps-…

@murdo_fraser You should be voting for. It’s not your choice or decision. It’s a personal decision by the ordinary public not pontificating politicians. I’ve had relatives die in agony despite supposed hospice care. Keep out of it.

Thanks to all the constituents writing about the Assisted Dying Bill, I will endeavour to respond to all, but I will be voting AGAINST the Bill on Tuesday. My reasons are set out here: scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…

@MonicaLennon7 @Sunday_Mail All MSPs should be voting for this bill. AS should be left as a matter of choice for us ordinary citizens nothing to do with the views of barmy politicians. Having witnessed close relatives dying in agony, we need this choice. 🤔

In two days, Holyrood faces a defining vote on the Assisted Dying Bill. It has been robustly scrutinised and contains strong safeguards. In my @Sunday_Mail column today, I explain why I’m voting yes to dignity, autonomy and compassion for terminally-ill people in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Bragging rights in the derby are all very well but they’re slim pickings in a season where the aim for Utd had to be a top six finish. Seven points adrift of Falkirk with three games to the split make that an unlikely prospect.

Donald Trump calls on the UK and other nations to join the US in sending ships to help secure the Strait of Hormuz In a post on Truth Social, the US president says despite "Iran's attempted closure" of the passage, "one way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!"
The UK Maritime Trade Operations says 16 ships operating in and around the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz have been attackedsince the war started

@afneil Makes you wonder about the scheduling of maintenance that so many are being repaired/serviced at the same time. Plus, what are the crews doing when their ships are key side or do we not have sufficient crew? Are we not building robust vessels? 🤔

Happy to be corrected by naval experts. But by my calculations the entire Royal Navy surface fleet of warships consists of: Two aircraft carriers Six Type 45 destroyers Seven aging Type 23s And of these 15 warships only three are currently active (soon to be four if HMS Dragon leaves port tomorrow. In any sensible estimation of deployable capability we don’t really have a Navy, do we?

Having just spent a weekend in Berlin it is galling to see how much we are being ripped off by the cost of living crisis - housing, transport, food, drinks, coffee, socialising, football tickets, restaurants all significantly less expensive that than at home

@afneil Why do we need the Chagos islands? Give them back to the locals and let the Americans do a deal to rent the airbase. It’s ludicrous that we still have an involvement over there. The days of empire have long gone. 🤔

I'm interested in the "political advantage" part of the attack on the SNP and Lord Advocate. How does being informed that your former CEO has been indicted on a charge of embezzlement of your party's funds give you political advantage?

VAT in Hospitality! And why we need it changed. We buy our food in zero vat rated and as soon as we sell it within our restaurant VAT is added. So in simple terms when we buy a steak in at £20 (for example) and sell that steak at £20 we only reveive £16 as £4 goes to VAT.
