@TheCinesthetic This role was meant for Michael Madsen, but Travolta's simple approach is what knocks it out of the park.

@HunterBiden My Biden 2024 t-shirt will be worth a fortune someday. For now, just a character witness.

@storyandplot I showed this to my son (entering his senior year of college) and he could NOT relate to the degree of integrity these people were held up to...signs of the times.

BROADCAST NEWS blew me away when it was released my senior year of high school.
I was a speech and drama nerd, and I thought this spoke to me as much as any John Hughes high school movie.
It's smart and funny, and one of my favorite relationship triangles on film.
This scene is not just merciless on Albert Brooks' character, Aaron, as he finally gets the opportunity he always wanted, and it's a disaster; it's also an exceptional example of heightening.
The whole film still holds up. An undeniable classic, from James L. Brooks' script, to his directing, and the pitch-perfect performances all around.
So many great lines!
I still think about the characters, their relationships, and the ideas it explores.
It is one of the gold standards that you hope to one day get close to in your own work.
I love this movie.

@DyerbolicalDB Deadwood all day. But I did enjoy The Crazies.

@DaveBuzan I saw it in the movie theater. Because I was in love with Peter Strauss. Still think that's legit.

"Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone" was released on this day in 1983. Fun sci-fi/adventure film from director Lamont Johnson and screenwriters David Preston, Edith Rey, Daniel Goldberg, and Len Blum.
Highlights: Michael Ironside is memorable in scenery-chewing villain performance; extraordinary production design by Jackson DeGovia; rousing Elmer Bernstein score.
This big budget 3-D adventure actually opened well, but was completely wiped off the box office map by the release of "Return of the Jedi" the following week.
I'm certainly not going to defend "Spacehunter" as being an undiscovered classic, but it is an enormously entertaining (especially in 3-D) and fun movie.

@mikemoviez The Witch and Hereditary both have preposterous endings. So Midsommar, which has a terrifying ending, wins. But I don't "like" any of them. None are rewatchable. But Midsommar is unwatchable because it is terrifying, not stupid.

@FuukTwitar I watched it last night for the first time in many years. Really powerful, on the verge of tears throughout, except when I was laughing.

@JoshuaBarzon People "hate" It's a Wonderful Life? I don't think those are actual "people".
