@grayomtb Didn't have one unfortunately, and tired of having to spend money/wait on delivery for tools. Marker pen, a hacksaw, and a bit of care; turned out better than the LBS job on the old forks 😂

@Priceyt @AFKARwrench @Hotwheels_1978 Just cut a couple of mil longer than I measured the old one, so need a 10mm rather than a 5mm spacer on top now. But, cutting too short is an expensive mistake!

@AFKARwrench @Hotwheels_1978 @krae_on Measure twice, cut once. Leave longer than you think, you can always trim later once you’re happy with it…

@Hotwheels_1978 Cut markings on the fork would be good! Though suppose it's only a one time job, I just used a marker. Head tubes are all different sizes for different reasons though so can't complain too much at that, just glad they're (generally) all tapered.

@krae_on You would think that’s head tubes would be standard size relevant to frame size and then markings on the suspension fork like handlebars have…

This seems to have been the issue. Originally adhesive backed to the cassette, turns out if it comes off it can cause enough misalignment to create a wobble. Removed it and now it all seems fine!

Bollocks. Took off the cassette and gave it a wipe down, checked the wheel hub and all looks/feels fine, reinstalled the cassette and still got a big wobble. Guessing it needs a new cassette? @Absolutemtb1 @UKMTB_Chat @MTBTalk #mtb

@UKMTB_Chat 99% of the time I'm solo, even travelled the 7Stanes in the van for a week solo. I always let someone know where I am and reign it in if I'm getting a bit silly, as well as ride with a medikit and mobile.

Thinking out loud I know it’s not the chat hour, wondering how many of my followers would head for a road trip to go biking solo? Somewhere other than your regular riding place.

@UKMTB_Chat The Mega uses the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger, and a standard threaded BB (not Pressfit). I'm all for more standardisation of essential components.

Q3 Every bike manufacturer does things a little different, anything on your current bike that you think why don’t all bikes have this? My Roscoe has this little cable tie slot on the frame to stop cable rattle, it’s genius! Not my pic stolen from FB as can’t quite get to my bike

Q2 over the years we have all had a bike or 2, looking back what’s been your favourite bike and why? Mine has to be the last Camber in 26er before speshi went all 29er, this still holds all my best PB on strava,plus I was at my fittest even though I would swear I’m fitter now 😂

@UKMTB_Chat I'm increasingly loving my Mega (coil overhaul inbound), but honestly, the Remedy that preceded it was just fantastic. Still my favourite out of my history.

@Faction_cc @Absolutemtb1 @UKMTB_Chat @MTBTalk Not the freehub, taken the whole thing apart and the freehub is solid with no play at all, and spins true. Apparently the plastic washer visible in this video is adhesive (part of the cassette), and can cause the issue, otherwise it can only be a weird warp of the cassette 😕

@krae_on @Absolutemtb1 @UKMTB_Chat @MTBTalk Looks like it might be the freehub bearing. May seem fine superficially and run for a while but will probably collapse. You might have already checked, but does it have any play in it if you try and move the cassette side to side?
