@Backward8ed @USDA @SecRollins Not to mention his tariffs on Brazil has cost the US more beef imports in a month or two versus the 80k mt they're seeking from Argentina. I'm surprised he didn't know that though since he knows more about the cattle industry than anyone involved in the cattle industry.

@USDA @SecRollins you basically threw out an Argentinian nothing burger. CRP acres? Higher LRP subsidies for protecting cattle prices? 100% depreciation for retaining cows/heifers? Border re-opening timeline/plan clarification? You literally didn't hit one "key" commonsense item.

And then it's reported the US is "seeking" 80kmt of beef from Argentina after Trump has acted like it was going to be the yugest amount of beef ever. Absolutely unbelievable you can get this many conflicting headlines in one day.

Same day Trump goes off the handle towards the US cattle industry and couldn't have been more wrong- USDA comes out and releases their plan to fortify the industry which actually has some very good things in it. You can't even make this stuff up today.

The headlines today across the cattle/beef industry have been about as unbelievable as Shohei striking out 10 thru 6 and hitting 3 homeruns in the same game! And they just keep getting better as the day goes on!

Aside from Oct/Dec lc which did close back above last week's lows, every other lc/fc contract held last week's lows again and the 9-week. Inside day for the most part today. Next week seems like a big week I'd say. For now, some major support continues to hold and become more important.

New record high feeder index print today at 367.61. Don't think the fireworks are over just yet.

@sippingsuds Just wait 24 hours for this feeder market. Down 2-3+ early and closes 4-5 higher. If yesterday's felt bearish 2 higher and closing only 50 cents lower, then today's felt extremely bullish. lol. Insane markets with no end in sight for vol.

@krashkattle The idea it was up a couple 100 and sold off and closed red was a different look than the market has acted in the past imo. We used to get a reading like that it was balls to the walls higher and didn't look back.

@sippingsuds Believe she looked at her receipt then and told me they were 23.99/# to which I can't even believe I said it, but I said that's actually not too bad for prime given the price of choice! Lol

And then there are people like my aunt that lives in Des Moines that told me a couple weeks ago they were heading to their lake house for the weekend and she stopped at fareway to get some prime rib eyes. I asked what they cost and she said I wouldn't even have a clue. We only eat prime though! 😂 I wouldn't call her the average beef consumer as far as price goes but it just blew my mind and made me wonder how many other people are out there that will just blindly buy choice and prime steaks.
