Sports will never define us, but always remember that whether it’s in sports or in life: The best get better Leaders lead Gym rats will find a way Champions always compete Dogs are gonna eat Winners will win Use your love for the game/sport you play to reveal & refine yourself!

Looks like it expires tomorrow, but you can get a free 8x10 print at Walgreens with coupon code ITSFREE810 I use these for some of my binder projects. This isn't an ad, just trying to help some people out!

Sad reality: There are kids who are more concerned about scoring 1,000 pts, getting social media write ups, seeing what offers they’re gonna get & what travel team they’re gonna play on instead of developing, staying in the moment & trying to help their team win a championship!

There’s nothing more dangerous in high school basketball than an unselfish star player. The one who passes when they could shoot, plays defense like their scholarship depends on it, and lifts their teammates. Talent wins games — but humility wins championships.

17u players…for most of you, today is you last day playing AAU basketball. Your parents have spent thousands, used vacation time, worked in the car and from hotels, been nervous for you, and have had many sleepless nights. Thank them, hug them, tell them you love them.

Parents: You’re raising a child, not an athlete. Teach them respect, hard work, how to be a good person. Show them what character & work ethic are. Hold them accountable. Teach them that they won’t ever get what they don’t earn. Strong, well-rounded kids find success much easier!

Long after the wins & losses, you'll remember your teammates & coaches; the bus rides & locker room talks. You'll remember how you had each other's backs. You'll remember the relationships & how you leaned on each other. And especially how fortunate you were to be part of a TEAM!

I don’t love basketball. I love competing. And basketball is my favorite way to compete. You can’t simply love basketball and expect to be great. You have to love competing. Every. Single. Day.

Your trainers\coach(es) should be teaching you every aspect of the game. Passing, finishing, defensive techniques, what to do when you DON’T have the ball, running lanes, mentally scouting players-other teams, and what you see in certain situations. What it means to be a pro.

Me personally, never was a fan of the Mikan Warm Up drill, not opposed to it, but it’s 2024, have to upgrade 😂 This is a great warm up drill I call “Timme Drill” for footwork and finishing. Short rolls with a bad pass behind the player. Builds agility & cognitive motor skills.

Your biggest competition will always be mindset. It’s a battle you’ll constantly fight. If you let it, it’ll make excuses & get you to blame circumstances. It’ll try to keep you soft; it’s made to protect you, but the truth is, it’s all in your head. Your body is fully capable!

Parents. Most likely your kid is not elite. He might be special to you, but in the world of potential collegiate and pro athletics, odds are he is not that special. Slow down. Take a break. Love, encourage, support him every day but take your foot off the gas a little. Missing one tournament isn’t going to ruin his career.

I heard a U13 select volleyball coach yelling at his team while the parents listened in. “You all need to take this seriously if you want to play collegiate volleyball. Stop screwing around with other sports. Focus just on volleyball year around.” The girls were all about 5’3 being sold a lie. If this sounds familiar, pull your kid from that team asap. Just watch the @NFL draft. Even the greats played multiple sports. Life is too short. Play multiple sports. Why? Before you know it, it’s all over. Even for those that make it to D1 or pros. The most common comment I get from alumni that didn’t play football while in high school is “I regret not playing football for you.” No regrets. Play multiple sports!!

AAU coaches and parents should do a better job picking the best tournaments for THIER team. The popular choices aren’t necessarily the best choices. Playing on far courts and backs gyms, and off site high schools aren’t ideal situations for AAU teams. It’s a waste
