@Bob_Wachter Yes, teen son had it and nobody else got it. I took PCR test on day 6 plus took a home test a few days later - both negative. Isolated him on day 2 of symptoms (stayed in bedroom or basement and wore KN95 when moving about the house).

Reminder that, despite its infectivity, Omicron's household attack rate is ~1-in-3 (less in fully vaxxed). People often assume that, if one person in household is infected, it's inevitable everybody'll get it. Ain't so; worth trying to isolate if feasible. en.ssi.dk/news/news/2022…

@andreavhowe My athletic 18 year old vaxxed son had it last week. 1 day of hacking cough, then 2 days of cough, headache, sore throat, chills, low grade fever. Nothing horrible, but definitely more than cold-like symptoms. I would have suspected flu if he hadn’t tested positive.

@districtai Maybe no mask mandate in VA but you wouldn’t know it in NOVA. Large majority of people still wear them.

So with the normal data caveats, it looks like Virginia, Maryland and DC all peaked at the same time. Why is this compelling? All have had differing mask mandates. VA has had none, MD in some counties not in others. DC had theirs reinstated Dec 22nd. Same outcome.

@NathanMackBrown No mask mandate in Northern Virginia but I’d say at least 80 percent of people still wear them indoors. Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal and I wear one most of the time. I do eat in restaurants though. No covid yet.

I saw this asked and it made me curious: Do you know anyone who still wears masks indoors, practices social distancing, and was never infected with Covid?
