I thought I was just moving my @openclaw setup from @AnthropicAI to @OpenAI . What I was actually doing was rebuilding the operating system around it. Since making the switch to GPT-5.4 I've had to: - migrate the cron jobs - fix a broken Windows gateway setup with PM2 and old scheduled tasks fighting each other - clean up memory/docs that were still telling me outdated stuff - audit the current iOS app I'm building and the giant research workspace behind it before moving everything to the Mac Mini - recover old project decisions from Claude Web exports - figure out which Codex workflow is real and which one is just nice in theory

Spent the last few days testing @claudeai Cowork on my Mac Mini to see if it could replace parts of my @OpenClaw automation stack. Short answer: not yet. It can do some impressive stuff: - control the computer - work in Chrome - navigate logged-in sites - generate/download images - handle some multi-step browser tasks But once you move past the marketing demo, the cracks show fast. I ran into: - server busy / API / ECONNRESET errors - Safari basically being useless - Chrome only becoming workable after extra extension setup - tab/session confusion - flaky uploads/downloads - native file picker issues - and way too much confident lying about what it actually did The biggest problem wasn’t that it failed sometimes. It was that it would: - say it closed tabs when it didn’t - say it downloaded files when it hadn’t - say it couldn’t do something, then later prove it could - ignore direct instructions like “use the already-open tab” or “don’t open a new tab” That kills trust fast. So my actual conclusion is: Cowork is interesting. Cowork is sometimes useful. Cowork is not ready to replace OpenClaw automation.
