@Barclaycard But finishing Apple Pay setup requires phoning Barclaycard, going though a hellish IVR system, then queueing for more than 40 minutes to speak to a human. Why couldn't this card verification be done via text or the app like every other card provider?

Today I got a call from my energy supplier @SoEnergyUK — who know my address — asking if I'd like to book a smart meter installation. "Yes please", I said. "Unfortunately we don't have any appointments, we'll call you back when we do", they replied. Reminder: they called me.
