i feel it kinda needs to be said that this feels like timesplitters if it was made by people who call themselves an "armored core veteran". this is timesplitters by people who liked the game when they were kids but never really took the time to understand why they liked it.

Testing the shields in the other games after the initial tests in the quoted post made me arrive at this conclusion as to what was going through From Software's head when it came to "balancing" the shields in Gen 3.

@exceed_orbit brought to my attention that this ancient JP wiki for Silent Line had this line about shields, and I decided to fact check it. It led me to discover that Left Arm Shields are not at all working as intended in the PS2 version of the game.

@27Celt @exceed_orbit I tested this on a real PS2 and found that the problem exists there also. This seems to also be a problem in Armored Core 3.

This matches my experience as well. The western players that still participate in PvP today use extensive ban lists in AC1PP to LR. Actually, many of them wonder why the Japanese players don't ban parts like TP boosters in LR or Crow/HG1 in PS1AC to promote more part diversity

@crescenswings American developers getting their hands on Metroid was always a mistake. The moment Nintendo slipped they put this shit in. They wanted that for prime 1 too but Nintendo told them to fuck off.
