Simonsen was fatally struck by friendly-fire while responding to a robbery at a Richmond Hill cell phone store in 2019. Was told a memorial mass will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Holy Child Jesus Church in Richmond Hill for those interested.

Today marks six years since we lost Detective Brian Simonsen. He was shot and killed while doing his job, protecting the people of New York City. Detective Simonsen served with the NYPD for 19 years. We will continue to honor him as we never forget his service and sacrifice.
