Any warmth, optimism and positivity that you have towards Chennai evaporates the moment you try catching a cab after stepping out of the airport Because unlike most cities where you get out, open an app, book a cab and go, in Chennai you have to Haul your luggage in the enervating heat to an overcrowded buggy stand. Then wait for an buggy which takes an eternity to arrive. Into which you are then stuffed like a sardine in a can and driven for 20 mins to a god forsaken "mall" Where you again have to compete with a batallion of tired and hungry travellers and their luggage to get onto an elevator Which will take you 3 floors up to a taxi stand where you hope there is cab available Which will then drive you down those very three floors to take you into the city I seriously cannot comprehend how the supposedly knowledgeable Chennai people messed up something as simple as an Airport cab pick up All of Chennai's aspirations to be a megapolis dies in that gap between the airport arrival and that cab pickup station

Have said this many times before. The liquor policy in Tamil Nadu needs a complete overhaul. It should be something say similar to what is being followed in Karnataka. Chennai need to be like Bengaluru in terms of having good pubs and so on. It is not only the availability of drinks, but good ambience, comfortable places and so on. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune are leading in attracting GCCs (Global Capability Centres). Chennai need to provide a better social life to attract talent.

What if Rajinikanth contests under the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam symbol in the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections? 🤔 Do you think the entire political scenario of Tamil Nadu would change? 🔥 In my opinion, the election narrative itself could shift because of Rajinikanth’s fan base, emotional connect, and mass influence across generations. What’s your opinion on this? 👀

“Have said this many times before. The liquor policy in Tamil Nadu needs a complete overhaul…” As someone from Chennai and deeply passionate about whisky and cigars, I agree, but I also feel we sometimes forget our own history. Take the Trichy cigars for example. There was a time when “Trichinopoly cigars” were known across the world. People in Europe smoked them. Churchill himself was associated with them. Imagine that….Tamil Nadu once exported not just products, but lifestyle and sophistication. We already had the culture. We just stopped building around it. Today when people talk about Bengaluru or Hyderabad, they’re not only talking about alcohol. They’re talking about experiences good bars, conversations, music, ambience, places where people unwind after work and connect. Chennai has the people, the taste and the spending power for all of this. What we lack is the ecosystem. Why shouldn’t Chennai have beautiful whisky bars with strong Tamil character? Why shouldn’t we celebrate the legacy of Trichy cigars? Why can’t we build premium spaces that feel rooted in our culture instead of copying someone else’s? A better policy is not about promoting drinking. It is about hospitality, tourism, culture, employment and quality of life. Tamil Nadu has always had class. We just need to stop hiding it.

I've been saying it for years. Unlike Manufacturing, for IT sector, the quality of living, recreational centers and pub culture is very important to wind down after a hectic week. There is a reason why BLR scores so high despite its infra mess and traffic. Not surprised least bit. Also, salary in Chennai is the least compared to other major cities. Saying this as someone who sets up GCC and hires top tech talent across the key South Indian cities.

🙏 It’s time we started taking men’s mental and emotional health seriously, and acknowledged that men, too, can be deeply affected and wronged in marital relationships. Too many men suffer in silence because of societal expectations, stigma, and the fear of being judged. They are often told to “stay strong,” suppress their emotions, and endure pain quietly. That silence comes at a cost. What Ravi Mohan has done today feels like a watershed moment. By speaking openly about his struggles, he has reminded people that men are human too; vulnerable, emotional, and deserving of empathy. There should be no shame in expressing pain, seeking support, or speaking out against emotional distress and personal trauma. Supporting men who are hurting does not diminish women’s issues. Empathy is not a competition. Every individual who faces injustice deserves to be heard fairly, without prejudice or ideological bias. I sincerely hope Ravi Mohan finds the peace of mind, dignity, and freedom he deserves... and the space to heal, rebuild, and continue doing what he truly loves. @iam_RaviMohan #RaviMohan

#Trisha attended the event because she was invited. She was the special invitee of #Vijay and #TVK We have two options to do here. 1) Find peace with it, and move on 2) Call them both out in equal measure Reserving the blame for just one of the two isn't right at all.

@narendramodi @AmitShah Sir, With due respect, it is difficult to envision meaningful growth for the BJP in Tamil Nadu without the leadership of K. Annamalai. I would strongly urge a course correction by reinstating him as State President and empowering him with a clear, long-term mandate of at least 10 years. Such continuity and autonomy are essential to drive sustainable transformation. Under his leadership, the party’s vote share increased significantly—from approximately 3% to 11%, and further to around 18% as part of a coalition in the recent parliamentary elections. Had this trajectory and strategic approach been maintained, it is reasonable to believe that the party could have progressed toward a 25% vote share, especially with calibrated seat-sharing arrangements in the range of 30–40 constituencies. This is the pathway to building a strong and lasting presence in the state. I say this with utmost sincerity: the recent deviation appears to have been a setback, with the party’s support seemingly reverting to earlier levels. I respectfully request that this be reviewed and necessary steps be taken in the larger interest of the party’s growth in Tamil Nadu.🙏

At the security in Delhi airport. The security guy, likely from Odisha from his name, saw my attire and guessed I must be from Tamil Nadu and excitedly asked "Sir, Vijay Thalapathi win?" 🤓 Day before yesterday, a politically savvy farmer in my village, not a big movie fan, told me "Vijay is going to cause a surprise in our booth". He used to be a volunteer for Annamalai. As a Thuglak analysis said recently, the Vijay phenomenon in Tamil Nadu should not be dismissed as "movies" or "glamour" - a lot of people from various walks of life are pouring their hope for change on him. The reason exit polls should not be relied upon is that in a 3 party context, where the new party pulls voters from every side, we cannot know who will win. I still think either DMK or AIADMK will win, due to their far better ground level organization and money, but Vijay's political rise is remarkable, in such a short span of time.

Regarding school fees, I see very expensive projections from many. No doubt there are schools that charge those kind of fees. What I don't understand is why we should focus only on those schools when we have other options. My son is studying in the same school right from LKG. He is now into tenth standard. Even this year, the annual fees we paid for him is less than Rs.1.5 lakhs. It is one of the most popular and best schools in Chennai, which was probably among the first in the city to introduce robotics lab many years ago.

TVK leader #TVKVijay doesn't seem fully serious about the election. He appears to believe that roadshows alone will translate into votes. Even though he has permission to campaign until 8 pm, he isn't utilizing that window. With most satellite channels not favoring the opposition, continuing this approach could see TVK's vote share fall below 14%. No one here is MGR or NTR, no one can win an election without putting in the work and campaigning actively. @TVKVijayHQ

I respect your views. Just have some thoughts. 1. My family (except me and my brother) are hardcore BJP voters, now they have shifted to vote for #TVKVijay - this is mix of factors such as Annamalai sidelined by BJP, Vijay talking about government employees and EPS having a weak leadership and Manifesto. 2. This is not just in my family, my friends and acquaintances who are staunch DMK and BJP supporters have convinced themselves that voting for these two parties do no good to them in Tamil Nadu as their daily livelihood and future needs something to new to look forward to! Many families don’t see this as an election, they see it as an investment for their kids - they believe in breath of fresh air and development following that. This is ground reality!

TVK and @actorvijay have undeniably injected a massive surge of energy on the ground. The impact is surely there (for now), but the real question is: who bears the brunt of the damage? Here is my reading of the situation: 1. Parties with a solid ideological foundation such as the DMK, BJP, or the Minority blocks that is aligned with INC are unlikely to see their core vote banks dented. These voters aren't just following a face; they are anchored to a philosophy. A core BJP or DMK voter is not going to vote for TVK, at least not yet. 2. TVK as it stands certainly has the potential to greatly dent parties with weak or no ideology. I think we can see a massive drain from ADMK, DMDK, PT, MNM, and even portions of VCK and PMK. Without a rigid ideological "hook," these supporters are the most susceptible to the Vijay drama. 3. This automatically gives the DMK-led alliance a natural edge. By holding their core, consolidating the minority vote bolstered by the INC alliance, and combined with a solid ground work, a sweep is firmly on the table. 4. While the macro-trend favors the DMK alliance, politics I believe remains local, especially in urban hubs. Solid candidates who have done the hard work in their constituencies will hold their ground. The map is shifting, but sound groundwork is the best insurance policy in this election.
