Dear parents — stop telling your kids that if somebody hits them, they should hit them back. It promotes a never-ending cycle of revenge, and *actually* increases their chances of harm. Self-protection is okay, payback is not.

When I walk in a school, I don’t just observe to see if front office or teachers are happy. I observe custodians, cafeteria workers, everyone. Because building positive school culture means everyone is valued & appreciated. And it shows!
