@MichaelAlbertMD Is there a way for consumers to check the credentials of compounding pharmacies? There are so many telehealth services out there now offering these drugs from compounders - seems like a huge leap of faith for the patient to just trust the quality.

The question remains around the quality and purity of these copycats, but every 503b pharmacy I've talked to runs chemical and microbiological analyses on each production batch to ensure purity and biosimilarity.

This is the best article on GLP1 compounding to date. Despite @US_FDA reneging its duty to inform the market, court cases and legal opinions have filled the void: 503b pharmacies can produce ‘essentially a copy ’-cat API during API shortages. cbsnews.com/news/fda-appro…

You’ll never go out of style while helping to end cancer as we know it! Can we get the bid for @tkelce jersey to $19,890 before @taylorswift13's version comes out?! 👀♥️

Is there a word, or perhaps a rigorous statistical definition, for the tendency of the effectiveness of diet- and weight-related interventions to wane over time? They work for a year, or maybe two, and then they don't. I'd love a name for that effect.

@TamarHaspel If it weren't for the two teenagers who expect the kitchen to be fully stocked for their eating pleasure, I could do a much better job controlling my environment. 😁

@ksullivan1 I had the opposite experience - at home I could control my environment, and I lost weight when I quit my office job. But the only way it works for me is to not have stuff that calls to me in the house.

The willpower/discipline folks are out in force in the responses! "People can't lose weight" obviously (I'da thunk) doesn't mean NOBODY can lose weight. I have! Maybe you have. But it's a plain old fact that the vast majority of folks try and fail. The big q: WHY?

Diet/exercise-is-better-than-Ozempic twitter is the worst twitter. OF COURSE IT'S BETTER. And every single person who goes on Ozempic has tried it. People can't do it. We know this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Get off your soapbox and meet people where they are.

@TamarHaspel Ugh it’s the post- pandemic working from home that is pushing my bmi up - too much access to my pantry! When I went to the office, I brought a healthy lunch and a snack, and had to make an effort to acquire more food than that. It’s so hard for so many reasons!

Why can some people succeed? For me, it's a bunch of stuff. I work at home, so I can create my own food environment. I can afford groceries. My husband & family like cooking. I have a flexible schedule, a well-equipped kitchen & some skills. AND IT'S STILL HARD.

Have you noticed that people selling diets (or supplements, or work-out programs) are the least enthusiastic about the new Ozempic-class weight-loss drugs? Coincidence? I think not. washingtonpost.com/food/2023/04/2…

@jasminecrowe Sounds about right to me - I’m in Atlanta (mostly a Publix shopper) and spend about $350/wk for a 5 person household.

My friend has a family of four, including two big boys, and she said she spends $1000+ a month on groceries. Does this sound right?

Whenever I despair over humanity, I remember that we also created libraries. Libraries are the heart of the community. There everyone should be able to find themselves in a book & know that their own stories matter, & that they are not alone in whatever they are going through.

@TamarHaspel I’m with you for Dry February. I also like most of the Athletic BC offerings. About to try the Hazy IPA tonight.

My favorite, so far, hands down, is the Athletic Run Wild IPA. It is a very convincing beer experience. Big flavor with plenty of back. It will help me get through Dry February. 65 cal/can

As others come out of Dry January I go in to Dry February (fewer days). @JohnNCoupland and others have said non-alcoholic beers have gotten WAY better, so I'm trying a ton. Here's my take so far. In general WAY better! If you've tasted some, and have thoughts, pile on! A 🍺🧵
