@thomasforth @duckdb Completely agree! It feels like black magic. I'm so annoyed with myself for dismissing it as more database slop without looking into it sooner

My goodness, @duckdb is just so good. Gotta be the biggest single software advance I can remember in all my time programming. And it gets better and better and better.

@PovilasKorop It probably doesn't matter in the end. Just keep building stuff. If and when you run into major issues, see if there's something else that solves those issues.

Weird realization. I actually don't really know how to test/evaluate Opus 4.6. Opus 4.5 was already working for me really well. Not even sure what task to give to the new model. But will come up with something, for sure.

@brankopetric00 You didn't even have `&& apt-get clean && rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*` in the original!

Your Docker image went from 340MB to 1.2GB after a seemingly innocent change. The diff: - RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y curl + RUN apt-get update + RUN apt-get install -y curl Why did splitting one line into two nearly quadruple the image size?

I personally use Claude for everything, and I wouldn't even consider Codex for production code. My prompts are generally very verbose and specific. Claude does a great job of following my instructions, but Codex seems to go off and do it's own thing. My impression is that you can give Codex poor quality prompts, but it will still create something that's probably at least somewhat usable.

So my Claude pro annual plan is coming up for renewal, but I'm on the fence about renewing it. I see a lot of people recommending codex as the best to use right now, but I'd hate myself if I was paying openai ... What do you all recommend? What's your go to?

Coming to @LaraconEU and spending more than $30,000 / year on AWS? We're having a special dinner on March 3rd to talk enterprise Laravel, Cloud, and scalability. Come chat with the Laravel team and peers running Laravel at scale. DM @samsappenfield1 to get on the list.

@codewithdary I did the same last month after using it for a long time. Their guardrails are overzealous and the DRAM mess was the final straw for me. It won't make a difference, but I don't want to support that kind of company. mooreslawisdead.com/post/sam-altma…

@kepano @obsdmd These are already on the roadmap, but I'd love to see them prioritized. I'm using Quartz while I wait for Canvas on Publish, but would gladly pay for it when available. 1. Canvas support for Publish (others would be nice, but I think this is the most important) 2. Multiplayer

🔎 I want to make our package docs easily searchable for AI. I’ve heard good things about vector searches, and I’m going to investigate that. 🔗 If you know any good links with how to set this up (certainly in a Laravel context), let me know!

@sankitdev @dhh Omarchy ended up not being the right fit for me either. I went with NixOS. It's fun to tinker with and switching from GNOME to KDE was a 3 line change in a config file. If I want to try Hyprland again in the future, that option is available too.

F**k Omarchy. I am into fedora now. Reasons:- > easy graphical install > no need to disable secure boot > dual boot by default (it can live with windows in same drive lol) > customizable with hyperland + windows manager > only 3 gb while omarchy 6.0 gb Although @dhh brag about simplicity in his podcast but he forget to implement for omarchy.

@jaydrogers I'm actually going to be doing some real-world load testing with Artillery on a production API over the next couple weeks. I'm comparing at least serversideup/php:8.4-unit and serversideup/php-dev:283-8.4-frankenphp. I'll make sure to share my results when I have them

To really figure out how much faster FrankenPHP is compared to NGINX + FPM, we're thinking of building an open source Laravel application to test it. It would run real-world Laravel scenarios, not just simple benchmarks. What benchmarks should we include? 🤔

I have 3 monitors connected to both my Mac Studio and PC. When I put one into sleep mode it automatically switches the inputs to the other. I also have this USB switcher mounted to the underside of my desk. It's the only setup I've found to be actually functional without spending hundreds on a decent KVM a.co/d/iYmpO38

@halftuned I just move the cable. I don't even use Lightroom daily. So that's fine. But would like to try a KVM!

I haven't yet found a replacement for Lightroom, so just stacked a Mac Mini on top of the Beelink, and now I don't even have to restart Linux to dual boot! Computers have gotten small and cheap enough that you can easily have two.

@mattstauffer @tailwindcss Another vote for the official docs. It's simple enough to use that I don't see much benefit in taking a course.

If someone with a good amount of CSS experience wants to learn @tailwindcss from scratch today, what's the best course? Please, I'm hoping to get answers mainly from folks who have taken the courses themselves in this context, so those who have practical experience. Thank you!

html { overflow-y: scroll; } I feel like the above should be the default in all SPAs. Why allow browsers to ruin your page navigations by making the UI wobbly? I very much dislike that browsers reduce the width of the viewport based on whether there's a scrollbar.
