My learning from the VC pitch stories is that founders get really annoyed if there's food in pitch meetings. Watermelon, peanuts, burrito. I had always assumed that breaking bread together brings people closer and reduces power distance, and have closed some of my best deals over chaat. But i can understand that it might give the impression of the VC not being interested. Of course nobody eats in india without offering food to the the guests. Is this only a firang problem? Is the issue that the founders are busy pitching so only the VC is eating? Is this a blanket no or only some food is disrespectful? I'm constantly munching on nuts during meetings - should i stop? Full blown existential crisis now.

Moments like this keep me motivated to work on open source. Not stars, not metrics. Just knowing a tiny library helped someone enough to send a kind note. Amid all the AI noise, these human interactions matter the most. github.com/KTS-o7/better_…
