@dysclinic Being compassionate and wrong is the worst combo. If a doctor dismisses me at the 1st apt. I just go find another one. But if they are nice but incompetent it takes me longer to realize they aren't going to work and/or I end up trying treatments that are actually harmful.

I don't know Dr. Alastair Miller, but their article is full of wrong info. Here are some of the incorrect statements: 👎 "With no test or effective drug treatment, the main management is patient-focused empathy..." ❌ "Given this, it was perhaps sadly inevitable that some people would question whether ME/CFS was a “real disease” or was “all in the mind." 🚫 "Therefore many patients benefit from appropriate psychological interventions such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)." 🔕 "However, with appropriate support and intervention many patients will make a full recovery."

@PhDhurtBrain I teach at a CC and I love it when I get a few non-traditional older students who still get me.

Consequences of the Texas Senate acquitting AG Ken Paxton: Whistleblowers will not report their bosses. Statewide officials can do favors for their friends under criminal investigation. No elected official has to worry about impeachment if their party holds the Senate. #txlege

The leaders of the GOP - governors, senators, presidential candidates, people with Ivy League degrees - have decided to continue letting their voters die at higher rates than Democratic voters, by lying about vaccines, in order to *get ahead in politics*. Disgusting and deadly.

The one thing I can never relate to as a chronically ill and disabled person is that so many people think that one doctor visit solves absolutely everything.

“What long COVID taught me: How to help a friend with chronic illness” Instead of 'Are you feeling better?' and 'What do you need?' here are some truly helpful questions you can ask blogs.timesofisrael.com/what-long-covi…

@po_move I would get very vivid auditory hallucinations after waking up from naps. I would get less vivid auditory hallucinations throughout the day as well. Stopped after I got a diagnosis and antibiotics even though I still have chronic Lyme.

People with #MECFS or #Lyme do you or have you had hallucinations when in a crash or at any point during your illness? How about folks with #LongCovid or #PostVac ? PS. I may take a while to respond as not doing great at the moment

@JZPhilosophy I had to get a 20 year old to sign a form the other day and the line where they printed their name and the line where they signed their name were the same.

I do think it’s one of those things we should still teach though. For signatures. For reading things not produced last year. Just to know something to know something. I wish we values just knowing, sometimes.

@TheDevilHistory Yeah normally the celebrity news does hit me that hard, but this one does..I had a lot of anxiety as a teenager and one of the few things that would help me relax was putting on Jimmy Buffett.

@ask_aubry This is beside the point, but ironically I was taught that real ladies cross their legs at the ankles only. Crossing higher up can show too much skin in a skirt and is there for loose women. 🤣

@RGibsongirl I have a beach cover up from Talbots that looks like a dress (especially if I add a cute belt). On days I really don't want to get dressed I wear it, and for some reason that makes me feel better.

Dear Rebecca, You really need to put on a skirt or something. Because you are the professor, and you cannot teach in your panties. Get dressed. Love, Me

@LifeAfterMyPhD Given the academy has a reputation for being liberal, as a PhD student I was blindsided by how much sexism was still tolerated in my particular field and as an adjunct I am surprised by how many tt faculty don't care about poor working conditions.

Are we just going to ignore the fact that Biden let Hurricane Hillary hit California when he could have used a Sharpie to move it out to sea safely?
