Just in: Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has sustained a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, sources tell ESPN. Results showed Edwards avoided any ligament damage, but he will now miss time.

Translation: He won't (or shouldn't) be back for at least 6 or 8 weeks. Hamstring strains are notorious for their high reinjury rates (nearly 30% recur within the first year), and since this is his third strain, it points to chronic weakness and/or inadequate healing.

BREAKING: Jalen Williams is out INDEFINITELY for the Thunder 🚨 He sustained Grade 1 hamstring strain and will be reevaluated on a weekly basis.

Direct beneficiaries of Dub’s absence are Ajay: pretty obvious he will be leaned on more for his offensive creation, both in scheme and for his self, he’s started a lot when Dub is out, so it makes sense if his number is called again. Either way, he’s going to play a HUGE role going forward Joe: there is a real chance Joe goes to the starting lineup to keep the ball handling of Ajay staggered with Shai, if that’s the case we finally *finally* FINALLY get to see big minutes with Zai and Shai together on the floor. Even if he doesn’t start, he will be tasked with a bigger offensive load with Ajay in the starting lineup McCain: if Joe is slotted into the starting lineup, there is a hole off the bench in terms of shooting, McCain could get his number called to space the floor and knock down shots Wiggins: the savior of basketball gets one more chance to step up and generate offense while provided floor spacing, if you favor experience and size, Wiggs could see the floor more for the same reason McCain would Bonus: Shai: gotta actually empty the clip offensively Chet: I feel more confident in him scaling up now than I did pre all-star break

Thoughts on officiating: - Fans always feel their team gets screwed, but universally, everyone watching OKC feels like something is off in how they're officiated. That matters. It just does. OKC Fans will claim jealousy or hate because the alternative is untenable for them. But there is a genuine feeling among all fans that the disparity in SGA's whistle to their defensive whistle is incongruous - The next step is the "So you think the league is rigging for a small market team?" and I understand the consequential thinking, but I think it's healthier to just focus on the problem. I think there's no grand conspiracy but there IS an incongruity in officiating. - Last year, we had an awesome first round, in which the players were openly pleading to be less physical because they felt it was dangerous. So now we've gotten a regular-season whistle. And it sucks. As fans, we hate it. I don't know what that balance should be because it's not my body on the line, but it sure feels like there's a way to have a physical contact sport set of officiating perameters that also deters dangerous play - Finch was campaigning to try and politic a win, but he also wasn't wrong when before Game 2 he made the point that the call should be based on what happens at point of contact and not what happens afterward (flop/flail/fall). The contact is what needs to matter and not the sell job after it. - Shai is genuinely difficult to officiate because he IS incredible at driving and controlling where he goes to challenge direct path defense. It's a genuine skill he has. - He also sells because otherwise he doesn't get the call. This is maybe the biggest problem of all: if you legitimately create the contact but don't performatively exagerate it, you will not be rewarded. That's a problem. - We always find something to say is a problem with the NBA, and more so in the playoffs when it's in the spotlight. But this is a genuijne issue for watchability. Fans don't want this. The league needs to listen.

It’s hard to beat OKC as is. It makes it impossible to beat them when you’re playing against the refs as well. I love the physical brand of basketball they play with—- but teams they face aren’t allowed to play the same way. Thats where the frustration comes from as a viewer.
