I’m not DSA & I’m not interested in joining. However, the idea that u can separate ideology from politics/strategy is so silly & devoid of critical thought. Ideology literally just means a system of beliefs that shape how you see the world. Every thought you have is ideological.

@NerdeenKiswani @briebriejoy Gotcha, I kind of get it. But there are a lot of meals that taste good reheated though: soups, stews, legumes, salads (w/o dressing). Also, invest in a rice cooker if you haven’t already. keeps the rice fresh for 3 days.

This is true if you're trying to eat healthy with a lot of variety. I can't realistically make all the Chipotle toppings and sides at home for one or two people. Home cooking is starting to feel like a luxury, especially for small households.

I hate to admit it but it’s actually cheaper to eat out everyday. Buying the ingredients for one meal run you at least $100.

@briebriejoy @NerdeenKiswani Gotcha. Yeah makes sense: groceries are like 30 % more expensive than they were pre pandemic. I agree cooking a different meal w/complete different ingredients every day is not feasible. Also, Asian ppl use a carb+veggie+protein variation like most ppl. They were trolling u lol

@kukito_122 @NerdeenKiswani I meal prep. What I described above is my meal prep. But if you don't meal prep and make different things with a variety of ingredients, it gets expensive. Last time I tried to explain this on here people started using a "stop Asian hate" tag against me lol.

@NerdeenKiswani @briebriejoy I can’t speak for Palestinian dishes, but a lot of LatAm dishes can be time consuming as well. We just make enough to eat for 3+ days. I spent 400-500 on groceries a month which is significantly more than it was pre-covid. But if I were to eat out every meal I’d spend like 3000.

I still cook at home because I prefer to and 90% of meals are homemade, I rarely eat out. Still, the time, energy, planning, and cost of cooking at home is a lot. And it’s still less time than it would take to cook our traditional Palestinian dishes which are very difficult and time consuming.

@NerdeenKiswani Variety is a trap. A modern invention. You get two meats and a mix of rice potatoes/sweet potatoes and veggies of choice and you mix and match. Otherwise yeah, it gets expensive and time consuming.

It's absurd that US Representative salaries are still only $174,000. It hasn't been changed since 2009!
Obviously increasing it is an optics nightmare, but it's really bad to pay our electeds so little, especially with the cost of maintaining two residences.
