@MaxfieldOnBanks @kurtknutson Sad the actual book isn’t on Amazon. The audiobook is though. Tempting to send copies to: Chevis Swetman Frank M Gasior Jeff Dick Laurie Stewart Shirley Nelson Steve Stone David Ball Scott Harvard Garry Kleer Greg Eiford David Lobach Phil Guarnieri But the banks aren’t theirs.

If I were a banker, I would read Kurt’s book for three reasons. First, he walks through a real-life bank sale that he just completed. It’s the only book I’ve come across that’s like it — half memoir, half practical guide to selling a small bank. (Freedom Bank was a few hundred million in assets, I believe, when it sold.) Second, despite the title, Kurt isn’t advising banks to sell. What he’s advising is that a bank should always be in a condition to sell — pristine, like formal living rooms in the 1990s. He also believes, and I don’t disagree, that thinking in these terms elevates one’s cognizance of capital allocation. Third, all reading is good reading.

In 2005, Kurt Knutson founded Freedom Bank in Overland Park, Kansas. In 2022, he sold it to Landmark Bank in Manhattan, Kansas. In 2023, he wrote a book about his experience — The Art of Selling Your Bank. Thanks for sending my way, @kurtknutson. 🙏🙏🙏
